Seriously, anyone who says stuff like this simply is not fit to be president. This is one of those things that isn't like "should we repeat the death tax?" If you actually think there is a legitimate debate to be had over whether we need federal oversight of the environment when the earth is a ticking time bomb, you are a moron. Go outside to play and let the adults have a real conversation.
What's that quote? Something like, when the last tree is cut down, the last river poisoned and the last fish gone, then we will realize we can't eat money.
It's unbelievable to me that these people are actually being taken seriously.
I feel like he & other right-wing, Eco-hateful nutjobs have legitimate followers because it's so much easier. So much simpler to continue living life completely in the dark regarding the damage with which humankind continues to carelessly wreck our planet. Gah. This isn't even my soapbox, but the willful ignorance that is consistently displayed by some of these people is scary.

I know, it's like they think if they keep their head in the sand the "fad" will go away.

Tomorrowland addressed this pretty spectacularly (even though I was meh on the movie itself):
"Nix: You've got simultaneous epidemics of obesity and starvation, explain that one. Bees butterflies start to disappear, the glaciers melt, the algae blooms. All around you the coal mine canaries are dropping dead and you won't take the hint! In every moment there's a possibility of a better future, but you people won't believe it. And because you won't believe it you won't do what is necessary to make it a reality."
And then that character went on to say something like people actually enjoy doomsday scenarios and saying it will never get better because that doesn't require any action on their part NOW.
So... First, whatever kind of shit Ohio or West Virginia sets as standards, that's going to blow over to me, you know? We have enough trouble with China's environmental issues without adding Florida to the mix.
Second, remember when Republicans used to be good at foreign policy? How does a company like Toyota, with plants managing and building cars in various states, figure out how regulations work?

Remember when Republicans actually created the freaking EPA to begin with???

I'd love to know what data he has to say that the state and local equivalents of the EPA are more effective than the federal level. That's just bullshit.
