In my car. Ran out to the gas station, was driving home on a main road in town (we do not live out in the country; this was right in the middle of the city) and a deer ran into the side of my car, bending in/denting my entire side panel. Then it just ran on its merry way.
FML. We will probably be out of pocket for this because I am assuming hammering it back out will not cost more than our deductible. This wouldn't be so bad if we wouldn't have had all of the following happen in the last month: -garage door broke -flat tire which resulted in getting all new tires (found out my treads were all bad) -pipe broke in the basement -new parts needed for water heater
Ugh. We are bleeding money right now.
UPDATE: We took it to the body shop we worked with before. Felt totally stupid. The guy came out and inspected it for a few minutes, then said "I'm pretty sure I can just pop it back in place." Took his hands and pushed with a little force and voila! Problem solved. LOL I think we were just too worried to wreck it further to try it ourselves. But this thread was definitely worth it for all the GG references
All I can think about thought is the episode of Gilmore Girls where a deer runs into Rory and she calls Lorelai freaking out and they have this exchange about whether Rory hit the deer or the deer hit Rory.

LOL This is precisely what I thought of too when he called to tell me what happened!
I had a deer run into me once. It sucked and I was a nervous night driver for years after. Everything at the side of the road looked like a deer about to jump out.
Oh man, that sucks. How bad is the damage? Does it have to be fixed now or can it wait until another time when funds aren't so tight.
I am going to take it to the body shop that did wonders for my car when it was in a bad accident a few years ago just 6 days after driving it off the dealership lot. They made it look brand new and were very good to work with. I am going to ask if it is a safety/structural issue or just cosmetic.
I don't have a pic because it's dark right now, but it's back by my trunk--one panel is pushed in so there is a gap between it and the other panel. If it is just cosmetic, I will probably put it off for a bit. I just want to make sure everything structurally is fine since we are headed out of town next weekend and then driving 8+ hours for vacation at the end of the month.
Yeah, getting the frame checked would be a good idea since it's in the area of the back bumper which you don't want to mess with. If it makes you feel any better, earlier this year on my way into work I "love tapped" the back of a truck (at a stop light turning green and I took my foot off the brake to start rolling forward and he slammed on his brakes) and on the same day on my way home from work, less then 15 feet from the incident in the morning I was rear ended and slammed into the intersection.
Deer are such dumb jerks. I know quite a few people who have been hit by deer. My SIL had one jump on her windshield this year. I am glad your H is OK and I hope it doesn't cost too much to fix.
