In theory it's ok, but I don't think it's possible for fallible humans to administer it properly.
See, and I'm pro but anti in theory. Like, I want to be against it, but then certain times when someone is given the death penalty, I can't help but nod along in agreement.
I think this is one of the biggest ways in which I am not liberal. (And / or one of the only ways?)
It bothers me that people have been put to death that were innocent. It bothers me a lot. But I kind of see it like abortion after 20 weeks. Most abortions after 20 weeks are for babies with little to no chance at life. As much as it pains me that there will be a few babies aborted that don't fit in that demographic, it is more important to me that those who really do need it have access. I view the death penalty the same way. A necessary punishment that will sometimes be used inappropriately.
Mostly anti because I've heard it uses more resources. There's plenty of criminals that I wish would die but I don't think the government should be doing it. Like for instance, if someone abused or killed my child, I would hope to find them before the police did.
Editing to add that I'm not against it JUST because of the resources, I'm morally against the government taking this role. I think we should be better than that.

Anti. But I don't lose sleep over some. Like, if a confessed killer who does it for kicks? I give no fucks when those are executed. But I would very much support the DP going away.
