Is anyone following the guy trying to do 50 ironman distance tris in 50 days in 50 states?
He's on day 12 in Texas and I guess because of the hurricane, he's doing the whole thing indoors- pool, trainer, treadmill. I sure hope he has a good playlist! 8-/
So that's working out for more hours every day than he is sleeping for an entire month. It does sound awful.I'm assuming he's doing it for some sort of charity?

The Dean Karnazes talks about all the stuff he went through with his 50 marathons in 50 days thing. And he was "only" running marathons. I have 0% confidence this humanly possible. Any bets on how many days he lasts before he has to quit?

I'm shocked he has made it to day 12. I would wake up the second day saying, "WTF? No."
Rich Roll did the Hawaiian island triathlon challenge or whatever he called it . He did a triathlon on every single island in however many days. It sounded terrible.

What did he say?
It's been a few years since I read the book, but the struggles with reduced sleep, traveling etc. as the days went on sounded grueling. His bloodwork proved he's kind of a freak of nature with relatively limted changes over the course of the challenge. However, he was only running 4-5 hours a day. This ironman guy is spending what, about 3x the amount of time exercising each day, and then has to travel to the next location? I wonder how the sleep/recovery challenges this guy is facing will impact him as this goes on.
My local tri club and swim group came out to support him when he was in Portland, OR. I think that was day 2 or 3 though. I knew he was doing an ironman in each state, but I didn't realize he was doing them consecutively. That's crazy.

He's coming through NJ over the 4th of July. I'm disappointed that I will be out of town. I'd actually really like to see him and would go if I was around. Stupid or not, 50 IM's in 50 days is pretty awe-inspriring.

I was bummed i couldn't go see him in Santa Cruz. I think they are having semi-organized 5Ks for the last part of each marathon, which would be a lot of fun. I don't care if it's not the best idea health-wise, I'm enthralled and I think it's amazing that he's made it 25 days.
According to his website, he'll be down the shore in seabright - which is not trafficmi want to sit in on july 4th lol
True! Too far for me to go! Too much traffic!
Not if you get there ass early in the morning in time for the swim and get out before the madness... Now that I think about it, why IS he doing an Ironman at the Jersey shore ON the 4th of July!?
