Can we talk shoes? I've been using a pair of New Balance Minimus shoes since I started a little over a year ago. I think the time had come for me to get something new. I'm not going to get a pair of lifters just yet. So, I'm considering the Nanos, Metcons or the Inov-8 185. Any thoughts? Most people I've talked to who have the Metcons seem pretty lukewarm about them.
I JUST bought Nano 4.0s Friday (yay for $45). I was using the 2.0s before that. I've only used the 4s once so far but I am pretty sure I prefer them to the 2.0s.

I've worn everything you mentioned except the Metcons and was fine in all of them. I am in an Inov-8 now simply because I got them for free... but typically I found that the Nanos fit better off the shelf for me because I have wide feet, and the newer nanos have a very generous toebox. It took me a few tries to find an Inov-8 that had enough room for me (I'm in the F-lite Natural 249). THe ones I have are great, but a lot of the more popular models were pretty narrow for me.

2doxies I realize this is a really boring answer, but try them on. A few of my friends with Metcons love them, for example, so it really just depends on you. And I have no clue what the 5.0s are like beyond of course all the sponsored Reebok athletes saying they're the best shoe ever I have Nano 4.0s and like them just fine but don't LOVE them, so whenever it's time to replace them I'll try on all the available options vs. stocking up on 4.0s now.

Oh, S/O question though: do those of you with multiple pairs of generic WOD shoes (Nanos/Metcons/whatevers - not specific lifting or running shoes) find that there is any actual benefit to rotating them throughout the week, like I know you're supposed to do with some athletic shoes, or do you just have multiples because the different colors and styles are pretty?
Brought to you by my inner monologue of "your Nanos are a year old and perfectly fine, so buying another pair would be wasteful...buuuuut is it really wasteful to have multiple options of something you wear 5 days a week?" (devil) I am going to the Games with my most pro-shopping CF friend, and I can already feel myself making the case for buying another pair of shoes while I'm there
Thanks for all of the feedback! I should definitely try to go and try them all on before I commit. A few people from my box got swept up in the Metcon hype, I think that's why they're iffy on them now. I'll try to check them all out at some point.
I bought a new pair of Nanos because my other ones are too big and it gets annoying. They are not quite a year old but close to it. I wouldn't buy multiples because there's no reason for me to do so. I'm good with one pair and will wear them until they die.

I think I just did my toughest workout since being big pregnant. If you've never done "The Chief", then you need to. I LOVE this WOD and when I was in my best pre-pregnancy shape, it was so rewarding. 6 push ups is the perfect amount and I love it when a WOD requires me to rest-haha. But today, oof. I couldn't breathe! And the push ups about killed me... pregnancy push ups are a cruel and very heavy joke!

We did Grace yesterday 30 clean & jerks for time at 95#. I RX'd it last time I did it and finished in 5:40 or somewhere in the 5 minute range. Last night I did it at 75# and did it in 4:25. Even though I could do 95# I wasn't feeling like I could RX 30 of those yesterday. Good thing my coach suggested I do 75 because that is what I planned to do anyway.
I have a video of me doing a clean & jerk at 95# and I am so so happy that I can catch it in a squat now. I can tell that I will be able to RX this way (previously I was only doing powers). I only went to 115# on the clean & jerks yesterday for strength which is my highest for that lift but I have a feeling I can go higher.
Did rope climbs for the first time in the Nano 4.0s. They SUCK for rope climbs! I had to do 6 of them and my feet kept slipping. I am pretty sure it took me double the time and energy to getup the rope. I need to start bringing the 2.0s for those. I get great grip with those.
I just finished up a six week clean and jerk clinic and was able to get from 105 in the first class up to 125# by the end. I've definitely improved my form, the movements feel a lot more natural now. I always thought a body weight c&j was out of reach but now I'm thinking I may actually get there someday!

That's a huge improvement in just 6 weeks! Great job!
