My first Olympic distance triathlon is Sunday morning. I have been having legitimate panic attacks over the swim for the last week. In related news, severe thunderstorms/lightning predicted for Sunday race start, so swim will likely be pushed back or cancelled because of storms and/or poor water quality...
I've got a 1hr OWS and about 40 min on the bike planned for Sunday? Up at altitude which should be interesting - Im testing the waters for my tri that is coming up fast.
I have another OWS race (1mile) on Thursday too, so it should be fun to see how much i can improve my time from last month.

Well Friday night races got cancelled (again) this week because there's a big weekend event up in Dallas. I've only workout once this week so in theory, I should do like two workouts every day this weekend to catch up. In actuality, my favorite dessert place is having a one year party with a grilled cheese truck tonight, in addition to $5 sangria and free mini cupcakes. So that's that.
Several members of my triathlon club are doing IM Coeur d'Alane this weekend. It's supposed to be 105 degrees. I'll be shocked if they don't amend the distance.

Relay with bostonmichelle and lori19!! The captain has me as doing a 10 min mile but my best since my injury has been 11:05. I am still working my way back. Hopefully the excitement and everyone watching will light my ass on fire and I can bust out a faster mile than 11:05!

I have several friends racing it this weekend and I plan to spectate and cheer most of the day. I'll be bummed for them if they drop it to a half, simply because one is vying for her second trip to Kona, one travelled here from AZ and the other two trained so hard for this (All are Ironman vets). I just want to say eff you Mother Nature for this heat!
Now that it will be in August, the heat will be a problem every year. July and August are always 90 plus around here.
On another note, but also h and f related, my city hosts the largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament (I think in the world) this weekend, and the courts are going to be 115+ degrees. I'm more worried about those "athletes" who didn't train (mostly the middle age men who go out there like they're still 20 something) and think they can just go all out and won't really realize the effect of the heat. The med tents and ERs will be busy this weekend! I know the L and D unit at my hospital ordered an extra case or two of lactated ringers to rehydrate all the pregnant mamas coming in in preterm labor due to dehydration. And inevitably, my unit (NICU) will be busy taking care of the babies of the moms whose labor they can't stop.
It was warm here in the UK but I took a train to another town and ran home, 13.5 miles. And, to make things extra cool, my boss who lives a few hours south ALSO ran a 13.5 mile run. How cool is he?
We're flying into Switzerland tomorrow and doing a run on Monday morning. Cannot wait.

I'm participating in a 26.2 mile relay with my running group. We each run 1 mile. It should be a lot of fun.
This sounds like so much fun! How did you manage that? Track, loops, something else I'm not thinking of?
Yep it was very well organIzed actually. There was a total of 23 teams from Boston area running groups with 26 people running on each team (so a lot of people!!). The first "lap" was a 600meter speed lap for the 0.2 then everyone did 4 laps around the track for a mile. So just a 600 and then 26x1 mile relay. It was a blast! Everyone pretty much spread out so relay pass off wasn't as bad as you would think. We had people run between 5 something min miles and 10 min miles. It was amazing to watch and participate.

Pardon my language, but why the fuck are there any full Ironman races scheduled between June-August, unless they're in New England or the Pacific Northwest, or other places with traditionally cool summers? That sounds miserable.

That sounds really cool! I'm going to suggest it to MRTT. Thanks!
