For those not following the ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional. I just watched the breaking news with my kids it was powerful and amazing. I am in tears and have no more words.
I missed the actual announcement because we were at speech. (DS is aging out, he no longer qualifies!) but my Facebook is basically one big rainbow all the way down my feed.

Omg Facebook. Between the flag and gay marriage, I don't know where to look. It is a cluster fuck.
Apparently banning the confederate flag is forgetting about 9/11 and let's the govt stop Christians from telling unbelievers they will spend eternity in a lake of fire. Wut.

I'm so glad that my facebook feed is a wall of rainbow today! Not sure if it's that I weeded out all the bigots or I didn't have them to begin with, but even the conservatives I'm friends with are celebrating today (disclaimer, being in NJ it's more Wall St. conservatives than religious conservatives)!
Its great news! I missed it on tv, but first thing after I woke up this morning I logged on to FB and saw lots of happy posts. i had no idea that this was even going on.
So far the only negative piece I've seen with this ruling is actually from a new report about Justice Scalia's rant about the ruling threatening democracy.

But yes, the day is young.
Yes, because this isn't about the constitution.
Because the constitution has never been about rights. Hmm.

A couple who have been together for 54 years and are 82 and 84 were the first to get legally married in Dallas county the picture was amazing. I love today!
I cried. I cannot describe how much it means for my children to grow up in a place where equality is the rule rather than the exception, and people are afforded the same rights regardless of who they fall in love with.

MIL & another relative always ask DS if so & so is his "girlfriend" & talk to him about getting married & having a wife & EVERY SINGLE TIME I make sure to follow it up, loudly right in front of them, with "you can love & marry who ever you want to."
And yeah, he holds hands with his boy friends too. No need to ask if they're his "boyfriend."

Damn right he can marry whoever the hell he wants to!
There are a couple of people that might unfriend me on FB (forgot about a great uncle) but I don't really care. He can't unfamily me or anything.
Don't worry Louisiana is doing everyone a solid and waiting to issues marriage licenses until after the 25 day rehearing time frame. They didn't want anyone to go through the hassle since they are sure it's going to change.
I guess they assume this means the rapture is coming and don't want to do all the paperwork.

If only... I have a few people I'd like to click that button on.
I'm surprised people are getting married already. When I got married, I had a 3 day waiting period for my license. eta im sure that varies by state, I thought all states had a waiting period, though.
