There aren't words to describe how tired I am this morning. We went to bed around 9 but I had trouble falling asleep, then I had a nightmare about being kidnapped (we are working our way through season 4 of Scandal, so that's where that came from). Then I finally got settled and someone started shooting off fireworks. At 11pm, on a Sunday. after 45 minutes, I called the sherriff's office to find out if there was anything to be done (I know they are legal here but wasn't sure if it violated a noise ordinance or something). Unfortunately, she said they can be shot off any time, anywhere. I could tell she has gotten this call before She recommended that I contact my county council person. So at midnight, I found out my councilman's name and emailed him. Had to re-read it this morning to make sure what I sent was somewhat coherent. Just asked that they investigate putting some restrictions on it. I love watching fireworks but 11pm on a Sunday was annoying.
Firework person finally stopped around 12:30 and I eventually fell asleep. The 5am alarm hurt.
I had a dream I was on a space mission to Jupiter. It was very vivid and detailed and exciting. I was bummed when I woke up and faced a normal day.
We should be getting an estimate emailed to us this morning about getting a cement patio poured. I'm nervous because I have no idea what to expect and I want it so much.
Convincing a 6 year old that we need to throw things out before we move is hard. He had a collection of sticks in his room that he had a hard time giving up. Today I get to tell him that his name decal is being removed from his wall. That won't go over well.
My cheek is slightly swollen today. I wish I knew what was going on.
I found out through FB that a former coworker passed away recently. I am shocked and saddened since he was only a few years older than me (maybe 2 at the most). It's a startling reminder of how fragile life is.

I'd say 3/4 of the things I purged from DS 1's room were tossed without his knowledge, and more than a month after the big clean up he still hasn't noticed that any of those things were gone. I just kept the trash bag closed when he was looking and grabbed junk when his back was turned.
Re: the name decal, can you keep it to put in his new room? DS 2 was very upset that I was removing his, but I found a way to fit them I to a big Ziplock bag so they'll hopefully still be stick-able when we get to the new house.
Thanks mbcdefg. I should edit my post to say he was a former coworker, but still shocking to say the least.
My meal plan has been non-existent the past few weeks. Make food and eat is pretty much what I have for now.
And I thought of you this weekend when I saw someone post a recommendation to get cats spayed/neutered. Are you still looking for some place to take the kittens?

I get it. It sucks
The on-and-off hot weather has thrown a wrench in my meal plan. I'm much better at planning stovetop meals, rather than grilled/crockpot/no-cook or cold meals.
I contacted the animal rescue FB for my city (FIL and the kittens live in another city, and their local shelter was less than helpful) and got them to list the kittens on their FB page with my contact info. One or two people commented that they might be interested but nobody's gotten in touch with me yet. A coworker told me last week that she might be interested but, again, no word. And she's out for a few days. MH took them to the vet on Friday for a quick checkup, some vaccinations, and a sex check - we have two girls and a boy.
mbcdefg - I hope that people follow up with you and the kittens find good homes. It's probably harder in the summer when people take vacations etc, but I am hoping for the best for the little girls and guy!

Have you received it yet? Just for a point of comparison, I received an email this weekend for the Angie's List "Big Deal" for having a concrete patio, walkway or driveway installed. They don't care what the project is, because it's 100 sq. ft. total for $599. Each additional sq. ft. will be billed at a rate of $2.50. This is for standard, non-colored concrete and the non-sale price is listed at $1050. Hope that helps.

Nope, I haven't gotten it yet. We will need about 250 sq feet and H thinks it will be around $1500. With the deal you posted the sale price would be $974 and non sale price would be $1425, which isn't far off what he's thinking. If it ended up under $1000 I would be stoked! Thanks for the info!
ijack I had a friend who used to jokingly tell me to sit in the lotus position for 5 minutes repeating the mantra "I have no shame.....I have no shame...." and then start writing about what a bad ass I am.
*sigh* none made it to freeze so this is it...now I have new things to worry about.

cajunmom keep us posted on what the estimate is- we are doing this as the next phase of our backyard remodel and I think our space is about 250 sq ft as well.
This week is going to be so weird. My office is closed, but I will likely be working some since I have projects to finish and we are moving into a new office as soon as everyone comes back. I know this is a FWP, but being the boss is hard, yo. I'd like to just take off to the beach like the rest of my team this week.
Also, DH's uncle passed away Friday. We knew this was coming, he had been ill for a long time. DH decided he is going to go back home to support his mom for a few days next week (they aren't doing a funeral). I simply can't go because of work obligations, which is fine with everyone. But, I'm a little sad that- A) I won't be there to support my MIL and B) DH will be gone for my birthday.

My feet are so sore. I need to buy inserts for my work shoes. I forgot how much strain it is for your body to be upright for 5+ hours.
On the plus side.... I'm meeting with a Barre company this week to discuss how I can become an instructor. There's a few different companies here so I want to make sure I do my due diligence.
This morning was chaotic at work. We figured everything out but I hate it when Monday mornings are crazy. I firmly believe nothing should be scheduled first thing in the morning after a weekend!
I am worried about the heatwave in the Pacific Northwest. We're going to be there in 2 weeks and I was NOT counting on 100 degree weather for that trip. I hope things cool off before then. I don't even think I have the wardrobe to be outdoors in that kind of weather. If I were at home and it was that hot, I'd be inside running the AC all the time.
ETA: Just looked again and Seattle looks a little more reasonable actually. I can deal with 80's.

We have promised him new decals for his new room so he is actually ok with them coming down. In terms of throwing things out when he isn't looking that doesn't work. He has this strange ability to know when something of his is missing. We have tried this and it didn't work out well for us.
