The freaking OFFICE FURNITURE!
I have an adjustable desk that goes pretty low, so that is nice. And I have an adjustable chair that lets me put my feet flat on the floor. But the seat of the chair is unreasonably long for me. And for some weird reason, it leans back slightly. So if my feet are flat on the ground my back is 3-4 inches from the back of the chair.
Unless every single part of an office chair is adjustable, it's kind of absurd to think that one chair can suit all workers. You would never tell a 6-foot-tall man and a 5-foot-4-inch-tall woman to use the same bicycle, but we are all expected to use the same office chair.
::off to investigate if my office will provide a lumbar support piece::
Ugh, I hate this in the courthouses. When I go sit at counsel's table I have to adjust so my feet touch the ground but then the table is uncomfortably high. GRRRRRR.
OMG, courthouses are THE WORST! If I sit with my back against the chair, my feet are swinging a solid 2 inches off the ground. Nothing made me feel like I was back in kindergarten quite like being in a courtroom full of tall men and being the only one who couldn't sit properly in the chairs!

I have the same problem tacos. It sucks. I have found that the Herman Miller Aeron chair was comfortable for me with lumbar support, but that chair is pricy and I was not able to get my current employer to buy me one. I currently sit forward in my chair all day and use a lumbar pillow.

You know the gub'mint ain't gonna buy me a special chair. I will get my own lumbar thingy if I have to, but I'm going to try sweet-talking the IT guys first.
Ugh I hate that. My desk is so freaking tall and it can't be adjusted. When I get my chair to te height it needs to be for the desk, my tip toes can't even touch the floor. I also don't understand why the backs of the chairs are so reclined. I feel like a toddler trying to play office at mommy's desk.

Aeron chairs were standard issue at my gov job. It may have been in a rat infested building but they tend to take the human factors stuff fairly seriously.

I have the same problem. I got a foot rest thingy which helps in that my feet don't dangle, but it is still far from comfortable.

My (federal) government job was actually my most accommodating in terms of ergonomics. They wouldn't provide coffee for meetings (even at 6am!) but would definitely order special chairs and reconfigure workspaces until you were comfortable. It was nice.

UPDATE: My chair is more adjustable than I thought, and I was finally able to move the back forward. I still think the back leans oddly backwards at the top, thus providing no support of the thoracic region. But this is at least an improvement!
