Favorite restaurants in Boston?

H and I are making a quick trip to Boston for 36 hours to go to a game at Fenway.  We have 1 dinner and 1 lunch to plan.  Where would you go?

I eat just about everything and am a huge foodie, H is pretty picky. He's a meat and potatoes/pasta kind of guy.

Myers & Chang in South End.
Coppa in South End.
Met Back Bay in Back Bay.
Zaftigs in Coolidge Corner.

Not personally a huge fan of the following but lots of people like them: Eastern Standard, Atlantic Fish Co., and Abe & Louie's.

He can usually find something on most menus.  If he were to pick, he'd just eat at diners all he time.  But most places have a chicken, beef or pasta that appeals to him.  He eats pretty much any meat, and just picks around stuff he doesn't like.

Both great choices!  That's my neighborhood.  I'll add Boston Chops, just down the street from M+C, to the list since your H is so big on meat.  I'm a veg so I just go there for drinks but the food is supposed to be great, too.

I have had a ton of recommendations for Island Creek Oyster, so we might need to do lunch there. We're also planning an early dinner at Sweet Cheeks before Fenway.

Coppa is the winner for our nice dinner. I forgot I know someone in the kitchen there - just got a FB message reminding me, so that made the decision easy.

Excellent. I'm going to Boston for work so I may use some of these. My hotel is in Woburn and I won't have access to a car. Will I be able to get to any of these restaurants easily?

Excellent. I'm going to Boston for work so I may use some of these. My hotel is in Woburn and I won't have access to a car. Will I be able to get to any of these restaurants easily?

No, you won't. Woburn is really inconvenient with no car, it's like 20-25 miles away. You'd have to rely on the commuter rail, not sure where the closest station is to Woburn.

Ehhh, I'm not very familiar with the burbs but others on the Boston board may be able to help you. I know for sure there are buses that go from Woburn to downtown or to a T or commuter rail stop. If you go to the MBTA website or HopStop, they can give you public transportation directions from your hotel.

It's less than 15 miles and there are definitely buses that go directly downtown (my grandma lived out there), so it could be worse, but it's definitely not the easiest commute. I bet there are buses to Alewife too.

You're right, I was off on the miles. But it's definitely not a convenient location for dining out in Boston. So many hotel descriptions are like "Boston-Woburn" and I think it's very misleading.

My company is in Woburn so I can't lobby for something closer to the city. But I can expense cabs
