Can you ever get name brand formula for less than store brand? I keep getting those $5 off Enfamil coupons and I wait until there is some sort of sale AND have a store coupon, but I still can't seem to get it cheaper than the Target version of Enfamil. Is this doable or should I just toss all those coupons I get in the mail?

I gave up on name-brand formula and quickly went to Up & Up for the savings.
I think if you have a check and Target is running the free gift card offer, it might be comparable. I think it's just easier to save everyday with the Target pricing. They used to have it on Cartwheel at 5% off almost weekly, which I would combine with the Red Card 5% discount.
I think the most I ever spent for a week's supply was $25, at my son's peak consumption.

We have used target up and up version of similac sensitive. The ingredients are the same and our pediatrician see no issues with it. It's so much cheaper!
I would stack the checks with coupons and target deals to get Gerber as that is what we primarily used. If the Up & Up was a better deal, we used that or the Walmart brand is what she used in daycare. Luckily we had no issues switching between types.

Sometimes I was able to get the name brand cheaper with a sale, coupon, and check. Also, my cashiers almost always let me pay with more than one check for one item. I usually was buying several and included it with a bunch of other stuff in my cart and it was not questioned. They are also nice to use for the RTF which is often then cheaper per ounce than the powder. But most of the time the store brand was cheaper. I just always kept the checks because I would be able to use them eventually for a deal.
Target will let you use multiple checks per transaction, so I often got Enfamil cheaper than Up&Up, especially when matched with a gift card deal and Cartwheel.
I've had success getting it cheap at CVS, but you do have to wait for a sale and stack so you can't count on being able to do it regularly. Like a $5 check combined with either a 30% off coupon or a $10 off $30 coupon at CVS.

Combining sales, coupons, and formula checks, I can sometimes get name brand formula for less than store brand, but it takes effort to stalk the deals, and like ewall said the deals aren't as frequent as we need the formula.
Typically we use the Parent's Choice brand of formula from Walmart, and then name brand Enfamil or Similac when I find a deal on it. My kids have never been picky about mixing brands.

This is exactly what worked best for me. CVS these days seems to have slowed down its seemingly weekly email offers of X percent off total purchase, but when my daughter was younger, I did well stacking $5 Similac checks plus 25 or 30 percent off total purchase coupons and the occasional extra care bucks. It probably worked out to be the same price or similar to Target or another store brand, but a trip to Target would have cost me $5+ roundtrip on the train while CVS is on my block

They are being really stingy with the coupons lately. Maybe I need to sign my H's email up to get some fresh deals!

I have a note on my phone breaking down the price per powder ounce (I've got issues, it's okay) and the Sam's brand of formula (Simply Right) is half the price of the name brand at regular stores and just under half of the name brand at Sam's.
Now I wish we had a Costco I could join because $16 is even cheaper than the Sam's brand (which is $24.98).
I also happened to find some formula on clearance at BRU (because it's expiring at the end of next month) for $9.90, so I felt like a winner. (It was like $.24/powder ounce and we opened it up and used it right away since the stuff we had at home was just purchased.)

Probably not cheaper but pretty close. My dd didn't tolerate the few generics I tried. I would do similac with $5 off for each plus target would have a $10 gc for buying two. They had that pretty often and it was the best deal I found.
Sometimes I could. I however had to hit the right coupons from the mail, sometimes the internet had a few I could stack. I also got my share of checks in the beginning.
It was easy in the NB phase when they were coming daily in the mail.
It was so much time and work to keep track of after that. I just wanted to buy formula and be done. Esp. after the coupons stopped coming in the mail. I wasn't about to go hunting and begging for them.
So yes, I did Similac if the stars happened to align and it was easy for it to be cheaper, but I used Target 95% of the time.
When we moved to combo feeding, we tried Costco's Kirkland brand first, and DS seemed to like it. $17.99 for 40oz is hard to beat, even with the checks and coupons from the name brands.
