What did you, or will you, do for a second birthday party for LO?
C's birthday is July 20th, and I haven't even begun to think about anything so I really need to plan something ASAP and at least invite people. I'm thinking we'll do a small party the day before his birthday, since his actual birthday lands on a Monday.
Do you think a "Red, White and Two" theme is weird if it's a few weeks past the 4th of July? I was thinking about stealing some of pugz ideas from last year after seeing the mini pies at TJ's recently.
We didn't do anything outside of the immediate family. We settled on our old house on his b-day and settled on the new one the next day - so, we were a little busy that year!
But past that - IDk, I didn't find 2 a year that I felt I needed to do anything big anyhow.
We are doing Red, White and Two. We are having a huge 4th of July party and her birthday is part of it. I don't think that too late in the month for the theme. Normally I go all out with decorations and themes. This party is big but focused more on food, fireworks and drinks.

I really really wanted to rent a trolley for his birthday but they are booked that weekend. Sad face.
So we are just going to a small Daniel Tiger party- my parents and sister, H's mom, grandparents, and BIL/SIL. We most likely will invite one of H's friends too since they are always up for a party.
Probably just cake, a few gifts, and some kind of Daniel Tiger activity? not sure...the only kids will be DS and my 3 YO niece.
I'm in the same boat. DS turns 2 on July 19th. I wanted to have a bday party at our house - just a cookout and kids could play outside, maybe rent a moonbounce. But since DH has not been on the ball about getting our rear patio installed we won't be doing anything on his bday weekend. I am so incredibly annoyed. I don't think it's a big deal if we don't have a party but it's a great reason to have people over! Plus we have other kids bday parties every freaking weekend so I want it to be DS's turn!!
We just had her party at home with my parents, sister and her family, MIL, SIL and her boyfriend. We did a Minnie/Mickey Mouse theme. They came over, we visited/played, ate dinner, had cake and opened presents. That was plenty for a 2 year old. Anything more and I think it would've overwhelmed her.

B's 3rd bday is July 20th.
We have a pool at our house now, so I figure that from now until he says he wants to do something else well just be having a bbq/pool party with family and close friends.
The party is going to be the Saturday before and we'll just get a bunch of food to grill at Costco and probably have about 15-20 people (mostly local family) over.

I think that is cute and appropriate for anytime in July. Our 2nd bday was similiar to the first. It was mostly family and we invited one friend from daycare. Since she actually likes stuff now I did her favorite which was Frozen. I love the mini pies idea.
That sounds fun! DD1's was around Easter and we did an egg hunt in the backyard with her cousins. That was family only. DD2's is coming up; family again for sure and I'll probably invite a few of her little friends whose parents I like. Rough decor idea right now is stars.
DS' 2nd birthday will be smaller than last year, immediate family and few close friends. Which will still probably be nearly 30 people. I'm going to be about 35 weeks pregnant at the time, so it's likely to just be pizza and cake. Phoning it in while he still won't remember.
It will probably be Sesame Street themed. He loves all things ELMO :::cough JRo cough:::

DS will be 2 on July 14th. We are having his party the evening of July 11th and are doing a BBQ. Brats, hot dogs, burgers, pasta salad, fruit salad, chips. The theme is "Choo Choo, J is 2!" since he's obsessed with trains right now. I bought a shirt on Etsy that has a train with his name and the cake will have a train. I think I'll get some train balloons from the party store as well.
We're hoping to be outside on the deck for a lot of the party assuming the weather is nice.
Last year we went all out and I made tons of cute banners and decorations. We catered food.
This year, I'm hoping it is less work (and less money!)
DD's 2nd birthday is July 9th and we're having her party the 18th. We going smaller than last year and just doing our immediate families. DH has a lot of siblings though who all like to come to these things, so there'll still be like 30 people there. DD loves the show Cat in the Hat, so that's the theme we're doing. I'm not doing too much Pinterest-y stuff though, haha. Just a couple decorations I bought. It'll be at our house, so I'm hoping the weather is nice, and DD and all her cousins can play in the backyard.
Hired a chef/caterer and they cooked the food at our house. We just had immediate family (~25 people). I did a purple/gray theme last year and a pink/gold these this year.
We did a party last year for DS' 2nd birthday. It was a smaller guest-wise and just more casual in general than his first birthday and we all really enjoyed ourselves. We also had it at our house vs my parent's house, so I think that's why it felt more comfortable. We did a Thomas theme and DS' loved playing with the other kids outside in the sprinkler and baby pool.
We are doing a similar party this year for his 3rd birthday next month and he is really excited to have everyone over to sing Happy Birthday to him.

That theme is adorable. Defintely not.too late. We did family and a few family friends with a dinosaur theme. Kept it low key. My kiddos are both shy and small parties work better for them.
We just had one family over for dinner. I made his favorite (Mac n cheese) and cupcakes. It was nice after the big one year old party, and he had fun playing with his friend.
AJ's invitations are TMNT so I guess I'm going with that as the theme...he looooves TMNT so he'll be delighted. Unlike last year's waterlogged insanity at my parents' house (we had baby pools and water toys, and water balloons/big squirt guns for the big kids), we're going the park shelterhouse route this year and praying it doesn't rain. Immediate family and close friends, plus a few of our coworkers that we're close with. It's from 3-5pm so snacks, cake, and ice cream only.
