DH asked me to come ask you wonderful ladies what to do PDQ
*poof to details*
But he's worried that if it somehow falls through, he's stuck at LGC locally. He's really trying not to burn bridges. CEO of SSC is throwing extra vacation and pay to DH already to match LGC. He's supposed to start new job in 2 weeks. So, does he look into still going to SSC while proceeding with overseas LGC or rescind his acceptance and stay with LGC and hope that we move within 3-4 months?
My job is pretty transferable since I work with a global company, so this is all on him.
UPDATE: DH rescinded the acceptance today. He's also been emailing with overseas VP and they have a call set for next week. Thank you guys for all the input

Does he feel like he's at a dead end at his current job? Is he worried they won't come through with the overseas option? Is he excited about SSC? Is it his dream job or close to it?
Would the company pay your relocation to the UK, as well as take into consideration differences in COL? That affects my response.
They'd pay an extra month plus plane tickets. We don't have anything except clothes to move anyway.
His HR rep is asking us to look at COL and she'd probably get us into the same ballpark in his salary. Denver COL is on the rise and the town he'd be transferring to would be in a MCOL area.

Option A: Stay at LGC new role Pay vacation days location Option B: SSC role pay location etc
Option A: Stay at LGC, keep all the same benefits, option to move to UK. Option B: Go to SSC, $10k more pay, same benefits, no option to move to UK but could possibly still pursue through LGC
Basically, does he stay at LGC with a great chance that he can move to UK (it's pretty much a done deal if he can get the visa) or does he go to SSC and risk not getting the job with LGC OR only be there 3 months and leave them.
O.k, so wait? He has a job offer from SSC, where he's supposed to start in 2 weeks? But LGC also offered him a role in the UK but that will be in about 3 months?

He doesn't feel it's a dead end, he just doesn't have the room to make changes that he'd like to.
The only thing he's worried about is he visa not going through and he screws over SSC in the process.
SSC is not his dream job.
We realllllly want to move overseas at some point before we have kids. We like adventures and traveling more than we care about salary and benefits.

Why does he think that would fall through?3-4 with visa processing and it isn't a done deal until he officially gets a visa
Can the dogs go with you? Can I go with you? Will you rent your apartment to me for cheap?
These are the really important questions.
I'd really look into the dog thing. The UK is considered a rabies free territory. Moving dogs from the US to the UK will likely involve some quarantine period.

Well, what about furnishing where you would live in the UK? Or do they provide housing and furnishings?

Eh, I'm cool with buying all IKEA. We could live in a 500 sq ft place with a murphy bed or futon. That's really not a big worry for us.

There used to be a quarantine for six months, but they've relaxed it and now I think they have to have had a rabies vacc 21 days ahead of time, but that's it. Obviously you'd want to confirm.
If SSC isn't his dream and you all REALLY want to go overseas, I'd stick it out w/ LGC. if for some reason the visa falls through, I think he'd still be in a good spot to talk about his future and where he wants to go and to push for other opportunities.
I would probably rescind the acceptance of the offer with SSC. I think it would be worse for him to accept the position and leave in 3 months than it would be to stop the process now.

Still, I think you should include this in your negotiations. H and I have lived bare bones internationally before and there was a huge difference in standard of living between us (Peace Corps Volunteers) and other expats. Even if they just offer a small amount in relo, you can use that money to wrap up loose ends and get your stuff over there without having to stress. As PCVs we were only allotted two suitcases each for our respective moves, so I totally get moving with the bare minimum, but with a larger company I would expect relocation.
ETA - FWIW, it wouldn't be a deal breaker if they didn't offer, but it can't hurt to ask. I would personally pick the UK as it's a great opportunity, but obviously you are taking a chance that it might fall through.

Then it's a no brainier, stay where he is and go overseas! I'm sure it will work out, sounds exciting!

Very true, but our furniture right now is a little too big anyway. We'd probably ask for help in getting our dogs over, though. Clothes, dogs, and kitchenware. haha.

Yes. Keep in mind you'll have to pay overages for luggage, so that relo would help with that, too. Also, setting up living space and questions like: Are there deposits? What about first and last month's rent? Utilities set-up fees? Any fees you'd suffer in the U.S. due to ending contracts? Storage of any items? all should be considered. When we lived overseas the process was simple as we had no kids, pets, or houses, and storage was at our respective parents' houses. It would be a very different story today. LOL.

ooh, thanks for the list of questions! We are going to look at rental prices today and I asked over on international living about other expenses to think about. We already have a storage unit that we could fit the rest of our stuff in if we need to and we own our home, so we'd sell or rent it out. Selling in our market right now is a piece of cake, which helps us.
I can't think of any contracts we'd suffer from ending. All of our utilities go through the HOA.
