I think I finally need to go. I've slowly been phasing out of fitting into some of my bras, and the last (my biggest) few are starting to get uncomfortable.
Pre-pg, I was a 34A/B. I'll be 20 weeks this weekend. I can measure to see what size I am right now, but since this is a moving target do I want to be looking to go in the 34C or 36B direction to size up? i.e., should I expect to go up in cup size (probably), band size (maybe?), or both as I get further along?
Both. I'd even go up 2 sizes on the band, or get a band extender. I haven't gained all that much weight and I keep adjusting my bra to avoid rolls and am on the last hook.
I bought a bunch and I was fitted for "growth" lol. She put me in a band/cup size that was bigger and I could loosen the straps and band as I grew into it. I am fitting pretty okay now. I went from a 32 DDD (gross) to a 36 DDD (grosser).
Oh and sport bras at night are awesome. Don't buy "sleeper" bras. Just get some cheap sports bras at target.
I was a 34A pre-pregnancy. Around 16 weeks I bought a 34C but it quickly became uncomfortable. I have rib pain and I was overflowing in it. I ended up buying a few of these gap shelf bras which are comfy and I have some room to grow. I also bought one 34D nursing bra that I have worn when I need more support - but I didn't want to buy many since I have no idea what size I am going to be in by then.
I was fitted and bought a few "transition" bras that have some give to them. I started at a 36D and bought a couple that were 36DDD and one that was 38DDD. I still feel like they have enough stretch in the cup to grow into.
I'd probably opt for 36C or maybe a 38 B if that size fits on the smallest hook. Basically I'd get the biggest band that still fits.
I've incrementally gone from a 32FF to a 36FF. In retrospect I should have gone to a 36F instead of screwing around with the 34s, but I was all 'how much bigger can they get???' Lol forever at me. I really should probably be in a 38 F/FF at this point but I'm trying to make due with bra extenders til it's time for nursing bras...
I've been using mostly a bra extender and larger size bras from pre weight loss. If you are thinking about nursing / pumping I would look at nordstroms -- I hear they can convert any bra to a nursing bra later. So get regular now, you may need some bigger bras PP but then as time goes you could also convert these to nursing bras.
There's no Nordstrom anywhere near me, so that one won't work. Honestly I don't wear expensive enough bras for alterations to be worth it anyway. (See A/B original size.)
I have a few S/M/L sized pull over bras, and those are great for at home. I sleep in those too when I'm feeling sore. I need a few "real bras" though to wear under business casual/business formal at work.
I haven't tried extenders yet because the current issue is cup size. More band length won't avoid shopping right now. If I bought new bras now though, I could use extenders if I needed more band length later. I will keep that in mind, and for now maybe go up only 1 band size, and whatever cup fits now (or is slightly big).
I went up 1 cup size and am in between needing a bigger band size - I can wear my original band size at the furthest hook. So I just got a couple bras to get me through and some bralets for wearing at home.
I just got a couple nursing bras and tanks about 2 weeks ago, and the sales woman recommended waiting until 35/36 weeks to get your nursing bra size, and buying something that will stretch with your growth in the beginning. Then waiting until 4 weeks pp to size again for a structured/underwire nursing bra.
I'm normally a 32C/34B, and I'm filling out my 34B bras right now, and wearing extenders. But I only wear those if I need extra support for a certain outfit.
My daily bras are the $5 New Boundaries soft bras from Walmart. They're super stretchy, slip on, convert from regular straps to racerback, hide the nips, and come in 5 million colors.
I went up one cup size and one band size at the 15 week mark. I'm almost about to need to use an extender for the band size, but wouldn't need to go up another cup size at 32.5 weeks. If I need another larger bra I will probably pick up wireless nursing bras instead, but having good bras for work wear was critical for me.
I went up one band size and one cup size. I probably could have stayed in the same band and up two cups, but it seems like things are getting wider in front, so the extra band width helped because the cups themselves got wider and I am not spilling out the sides and tops now.

I had a breast reduction so before i got pregnant with my daughter I was a 36 large C or small D. I was a an E during pregnancy with her then back down to a D, and now I'm a 40F. It sucks. I can't wear underwire anymore it hurts my belly too much. I ended up buying these in a plus size 2x.
