There will probably be a looooong line at Acme so keep that in mind. One of my favorites places is Star Steak and Lobster on Decatur. Dickie Brennan's is good and I really enjoy the Red Fish Grill.
eta: port of call is good for a burger but if you go there you must have a monsoon to drink.
Commander's Palace was good, but the highlight of our trip was actually Restaurant August. Followed a close second by the muffalettas at Central Grocery.

ACME was so good. We went during a non-meal time (like 3 pm), and we didn't have to wait long at all. We went to GW Fins for dinner; it was the best meal I've ever had.

We always go to R&O's for poboys. It is not close to tourist stuff, but it's good. I've been to Acme and it was also good, but I don't love oysters so I can't be that enthusiastic about it.
I actually kind of hated Brennan's. Drago's was underwhelming. I went to the one in the Hilton though, maybe the one in Fat City is better.
We love GW Finns and have eaten there a few times, really good fresh seafood. We also went to R'evolution for brunch a few weekends ago and it was so so good!
We are staying at the Roosevelt, going late September.
The ghost tour is more of an afternoon garden district walking tour. Yay or nay? I Haven't rode a bike since I was a kid, not sure how I feel about it. I don't want to be the klutz.
I was looking at Acme for the raw oysters. Is there a better place?
It's been a long time since we visited but I still remember the coffee and beignets at Cafe du Monde, a trout dish and a side of fried green tomatoes at Uglesichs and the music at Preservation Hall. Have fun!

I LOVE the jazz brunch at Commander's (get the bread pudding for dessert!). Do either lunch or brunch since it's cheaper and pick another place for dinner. I'll also recommend the previously mentioned Restaurant August and Jacques-Imo's (the alligator cheesecake is the stuff dreams are made of).
Right across from Acme is another place that was just the same. I am blanking on the name. Our wait was half has long and the food was fried goodness. Oysters were great too.
We also went to this tiny little french/creole place off on Royal street. It was easily my favorite meal of the trip. But I can't remember the name!
