Yeah, at my DH's last place of work, they were just laying people off randomly and with no notice at all. One guy got laid off a few days before the Christmas holidays, which must have really sucked.
It's definitely a good thing that your DH has a fair amount of notice so he has time to look for something else.
I don't even think he has a LI profile. I will tell him to get one ASAP.
I hadn't looked for a job in 10 years, so I was starting from scratch 3 weeks ago. My former VP advised me to really have a strong Linkedin presence, because recruiters will often check out the account after they receive a resume.
We got the same notice back in March about my husband's position being eliminated. After his last working day in May, he started job hunting like a full time job. In 6 weeks he had a verbal offer and it's actually for a job that a recruiter on LI hooked him up with. The recruiter found him on there and my husband doesn't even have the premium version.
Though we are still in limbo waiting for the offer to be finalized. Apparently these things can take a while and with the holiday, no one is in a rush to get things done. Here's to hoping for the best. Ashley&Scott
