My best friend's little sister went to the University of Cincinnati and apparently Nick Lachey is a huge fan of their college athletic program. The sister ended up meeting Nick and a game and they were hooking up for a while. After the hooking up ended the sister and I were out one night. I was sort of drunk and asked her for his number. I called and actually talked to him for a bit once, but he ended up hanging up on me. Then after that I would occasionally (not sober) call his phone (blocked number) and either listen to him answer or his voicemail.
So nice to be home that I am actually going back next weekend too!
I am loving that you drunk dialed Nick Lachey! On multiple occasions. You so deserve to be with someone more fun.
Last night DH and I had an argument about water, too. It was over whether to put hot or cold water into the pot to boil for pasta. H insisted it didn't matter. I couldn't help be all "WTF?" Apparently I wasn't very nice about it. But seriously?

Wednesday was not a good night. I left work so tired that I was thinking 'If I didn't have a child, I would go home and go straight to bed.' But I do have a child to take care of (DH works evenings) so that wasn't an option. Instead I planned to go to bed shortly after DS (DS is 16 months). I put him in his crib at 9:00. About five minutes later I hear a 'THUD', DS started crying, and then he came walking out of his room. Yep, the little munchkin climbed out of his crib. Thank God he didn't seriously injure himself.
The crib mattress can be lowered one more notch but I don't know how to do that so I was going to wait for DH to come home and handle that. I got out the pack and play for DS but one of the sides was broken and wouldn't snap into place so I couldn't set it up.
It is impossible for DS to fall asleep unless he is by himself in an enclosed space. So we stayed up. DH was supposed to be home at 11:30. He did not come home and did not answer his phone. Finally he comes home at 1:00 am because he had gone out for a beer with his co-workers (he does this periodically but never calls because I'm usually in bed anyway). When he walked in the door, both DS and I were sobbing because we were so tired and we didn't know where he was.
My stupid excel is taking forever to update making my reports take even longer than normal. I was out sick yesterday so I've got a whole day to make up for and my computer is going slower than molasses!!!
AND THEN....I Pandora isn't loading very well so I'm working on these headache inducing reports with no music. Ugh. I'm ready for 5 PM to be here.
Total AW: Today is our 10 year anniversary, and DH surprised me by taking off work today and taking us out for a 90 minutes couples' massage followed by lunch and then dinner out at our favorite restaurant tonight. WOOT!
I am feeling super emotional this week for some reason and that school supply thread made me cry. I can't believe parents are so mean when it comes to other kids.

Don't know which side of the argument you were on, but you should always use cold water for cooking/consuming. If you need to heat it up you should get cold water from the tap, and then heat it yourself. Hot water from the tap has more chemicals (like lead) because the warmer the water, the more it can leach chemicals from the pipes.
I just got out to DC to start my new adventure and well...I feel at a loss as to where to start. I guess just keep applying to jobs, but I feel like I should be out doing something more.
I do have an interview set up with a staffing agency next week, so I guess that's good...
I know you want to do something in politics. The House and Senate are out now, so it might be a hard time to get a job on the Hill. But they will be back 9/10. Also, there are a ton of committees. I would definitely be checking out house and senate .gov and the House and Senate Sergeant at Arms websites. A foot in the door is all you really need.
Jigsy, I work on the hill so if you have questions about where to get started I'm happy to help to the best of my ability. PM me, if you want.

Hahaha! DH wins. I just meant hot water boils faster. Oops!
In fairness, a lot of cooking shows, cookbooks, and tips that address this will tell you to use hot water. So you weren't wrong!! lol
I would like to thank MM for helping me win a disagreement with DH last night. We had a disagreement about water because we like to keep it klassy up in the papiercherri household.
He's been really MM lately and he has all these lofty MM goals now. I've rubbed off on him over the years, but now he thinks we need to save EVERYTHING. I was rinsing off a few dishes last night and he was all, " why are you using soooo much water? We probably spend an extra $10/month because you use so much.."
I thought he was joking and told him that he was so worried about the amount of water I use while washing dishes he could wash dishes himself. Then I laughed.
But he wasn't kidding because then he said, "No, really, it's just not very smart, and you take such long showers, you waste so much water!!" Then he came over to the sink and turned the water down to a slow trickle.
Then I gave him the look and I turned the water back up.
And he turned it back down.
Then I remember an MM conversation from some weeks ago, when someone asked about washing bath towels. DH insists on a clean towel every time he showers. So I told him, "well, if you would use your towel more than once after you shower you could save tons of water!!" and I turned the water back up.
He was all "what? who uses a towel more than once!?!?!? I dry my ass with that!"
And I said, "EVERYONE ON MM!!!"
Then we argued about whether or not everyone on MM washes their bath towels everytime they take a shower.
DH: "They did NOT say that." Me: "Yes, they did, YOU ARE A WASTEFUL HUSBAND. MM does not like washing towels everyday."
Then he asked me to prove it to him, and I had to come on GBCN and search for the freaking post and give my husband proof that you all don't wash bath towels daily.
I'm sorry, but this is hilarious. It's so an argument that I can see us having!

Well, this gets even trickier. In old houses, it is recommended but it doesn't matter so much in new houses. It's all about the piping.

That's exactly what I was thinking. My house was built in the 80s and has all copper piping. I apparently am too ignorant to safely own an older home.
Today sucks. I had such a good time meeting my new coworkers at the faculty retreat, then I come back to my research lab and all shit has hit the fan. :-(
Oh, and I had my first bubble-necklace-on-non-Nestie sighting at a bar last night! The wearer looked annoying (which was about right for the godawful bar we were at).
I've seen them twice IRL. The second time was at BIL's engagement party, when I took off my bubble necklace right before we left for the party!
