'Safe and sane' fireworks are legal in my city, so we were doing some at the curb until around 11pm, as were several neighbors. #MLhillbillies
Lots of people were shooting off illegal ones, despite heightened police presence in the area. Apparently they can't cite offenders though unless they actually see the person lighting the illegal firework, which is next to impossible.
We heard a few random ones Sat. night and during the day Sunday, but most people stuck to between 7:30 and midnight last night. The baby slept through all of it.
WA state is in a drought so I was really worried about some asshole burning down my house. And also, they were going off well past midnight. I need my sleep! *shakes cane*
My H is a combat veteran and although he isn't specifically diagnosed with PTSD, fireworks really bring him back. Last night we knew to expect them but it was still hard for him. My DD (2.5) was trying to fall asleep and jumping up every time she heard one. It took every ounce of my being to keep from going up and laying with her.
ETA: It started pouring down rain around 10 and they magically stopped. I have never been so thankful for rain!
