She lived one town over and was all-state in soccer, field hockey, and basketball. She was (and still is) just a phenomenal athlete. In field hockey, I could hang with her. But in soccer, both of our teams were not so great, and we would put 5 people on Christie and she would still score 4 goals. And now she is 40, has two small kids, and is the captain of the freaking national team. I'm in awe - 40!
I hope she gets into this game as the final substitution.
This is so cool. Reminds me of Dara Torres who, at age 41, was the oldest swimmer ever to earn a place on the US Olympic team in 2008! These gals are badass!
