S/O Travel poll: what's still on your bucket list?

Mine's actually not too big:

Follow Weezer on tour in Japan
Summer Olympics (we're shooting for Tokyo)
See cherry blossoms in Japan
Hiking around the English countryside (not sure of the region)
Tour the Ben & Jerry's factory (probably part of my 40th birthday trip)
Back to NZ to hike the Routeburn Track (maybe for our 15th or 20th anniversary)
Take an extended cooking class (week or 2) in Italy

Good luck!  My guide at Periyar Tiger Reserve said that in his 17 years of working in the the park he has only seen a tiger 3 times.  I'd love to see them as well but I know it wont happen in my lifetime!

I was kind of depressed after I ticked off Antarctica, because that really was the top thing on my bucket list. I had to put some things at the top that were extremely hard to achieve, so they'd be there for a long time! Those are:
- See a lava lake
- See a narwhal

The rest of my list at the moment:
- Take an epic train journey. I want to do the trans-Siberian, even though it sucks.
- Go on an expedition cruise to northeast Greenland
- Walk on a beach with bioluminescence
- Visit a bunch of places in Brazil:
-- Jericoacoara
-- Amazon
-- Fernando de Noronha
-- Iguazu
- Fly on a Dreamliner (some of these are silly and easy)
- See the Door to Hell in Turkmenistan
- Visit Socotra
- Go to the Galapagos
- Take a Blue Cruise in Turkey
- Visit Pamukkale
- Stay in a fancy tree house
- Exit a plane by going down the evacuation slide (weird, I know, but I reeeeally want to do it)
- Explore the Tatooine sets in southern Tunisia
- Take a trans-oceanic cruise
- Stay in an over-water bungalow
- Travel overland across the Great Sand Sea

And if I manage to get through all of that in my lifetime, I'm spending most of the rest of my travel money on an icebreaker to the North Pole.

Better chance than my narwhal! I'd pretty much have to encamp with a research team studying them. Even then I'd need better luck than I have!

Tons of international carriers fly them. In fact, the 747 has gone through tons of redesigns to improve its fuel efficiency, so they're actually still being made and sold. There are currently over 50 pending orders for new 747-8s.

And I forgot to put it on my list in the other thread, but flying upper-deck on a plane was on my list too. BA has economy class on the upper deck of their A380s, so check!

-Swim with the rays. Im cool with either the stingrays in the Cayman Islands or the Mantas in Hawaii. I love all rays!

BA still flies one occasionally on the LHR to BOM route.  I think it is all business class though.

I don't know if I really have a bucket list. I'm a very opportunistic traveller, I'm usually down to go wherever is a good deal/convenient at the time. Since I'm living in Asia most of my travel goals are focused on the region right now. I'd like to visit most of the countries in Far Eastern and South Eastern Asia and go to Australia and New Zealand while I live over here.

My more specific goals are all animal related, haha. I'd like to see orangutans in Borneo, go to an elephant sanctuary in Thailand, visit the panda research center in Chengdu, and go on a safari in Sri Lanka.

I'd also like to live in Europe so I have a chance to explore Europe/North Africa/the Middle East the same way I'm doing Asia right now. After that I can move back to the states and focus on the Americas.

Eeek I didn't know it was so hard!  Well, like I said - I already know I won't accomplish them all... so maybe this one will never happen, or maybe I'll get crazy lucky.  But more likely, I won't get crazy lucky!

There are so many cool animals to see that it kinda makes up for it.  The giant tree squirrel was pretty cool.  I also saw a Kingfisher, lots of Sambar deer, monitor lizard, wild boar, otters, monkeys and peacocks.  I got way too excited for the peacocks and made my driver pull over so I could get a pic of them.  I did see tigers but they were at Bannerghatta Park; they did walk right up to the vehicle so I was just a few feet away from them.  And lots of bats in Bangalore- Sankey tank comes alive after sundown with bats and so does the small park next to the Bull temple.

I still want to see the Sydney Opera House in person. A Malbec tour of Argentina is high on the list. I want to do six continents...the Antarctica trip sound amazing but not something i really really want to do.

I've been fortunate enough to do this twice, and it is quite wonderful.  That being said, I'd rather gun for Etihad as I think they're probably the best out there right now.  Even if you don't get the Residence, their First Apartments look amazing.  Certainly not worth the cost, but amazing.  

This is very useful information to have!  Etihad is a United partner so I would actually fly them unlike Emirates.  I guess we know where I'm cashing in my points.  The bus stop next to my office had a picture of the shower on board the Emirates that I walked past every day which was why I was smitten with Emirates.

Not the original poster, but feel similarly.  I want to see Antarctica, but I did my Honors Thesis in college on tourist-caused damage and I am very conscious of that aspect and I am so very afraid that tourists in Antarctica are causing irreparable damage.  As much as I want to see it, I can't be a party to that.  In many ways, I wish no-one else was either. I truly believe that in this instance the act of observation does have a huge impact on the environment and I don't think the privilege of visiting the area is worth the risk (for anyone).

Mainly the cost and logistics of it. If we did it, it would be far far far off when we are older and not sure if we could manage it then. It sounds like an adventure but other things are on the list.

cheezer we did Barcelona and San Sebastian in 2011.
If you have time it is worth taking the bus to Bilbao to see the Guggenheim. The building itself it crazy.

Also, you will eat the best tapas ever in San Seb. The bars will have things spread out all over the place. Those can be so so but the really good stuff is usually what's ordered and cooked for you. I need to look up a few places we loved to see if they are still there but you must try beef cheeks and mussels. The cider is great too.

I was on a plane with a bomb threat in Costa Rica and we had to make an emergency landing and go down the slides when I was 12.

Seeing the Northern Lights on so many bucket lists makes me really grateful for where I grew up. This isn't my picture but we'd get a show like this every couple years, normally in August or September. We tried to see them when we were in Fairbanks, AK but they didn't come close to what I'd seen in MI.

There are some commonly visited places that I still haven't been to yet but would like to.
- I'd like to try cruising sometime. I don't think it'd be a regular thing for me, but I'd like to try it.
- Also, Hawaii has lately jumped up my list of ideas. I have an allergy that might make it a little tricky for me but still probably do-able. 
- Iceland has too, my BF loves this one so it would be easy. He's an experienced traveler there and can speak a bit of the language.
- Experience more of France, I've been but I'd like to do more.
- Experience more of the Mediterranean. Like France, I've been but would like to see more.
- I'd like to do some more traveling to see cool ruins/archaeology. 
- I'd like to tour more of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and possibly parts of Central Asia.
- Go down under.
- See more of Canada.
- Etc, I'm leaving out a lot.
