It's just time and all this back in forth is crazy. We are pre-approved so at least that is out of the way but damn.
I don't know how people do it more than once. We are really just in the beginning stages and already I am discouraged. Found a house we really liked. Back and forth with the seller and it just was a no go. Bummed but trying to move on.
I feel you. It was a major headache (we just closed last week) and there are so many things you can't control. You have to rely on people to come through for you and walk the fine line of keeping them on task without completely harassing them and making them hate you. LOL
Hang in there. We just closed 3 months after we started the process and we adore our home. Hoping you find something you love too!

It is a process and I found that some real estate agents added to the drama of it rather than the simplicity. A simple, good negotiator is good, but otherwise, I wish I could just sit across from the seller and discuss.
And I have decided to quit looking at listing for awhile. Everyone I looked at that would work is under contract. I wish they would update their sites
If you're looking in a hot market, your best bet is to find a realtor to help you. Often sites like realtor.com/zillow, etc. are 24 hours behind on getting listed, so there could be offers before it even shows up as available. They also need to each get updated separately, so if agents are swamped with paperwork and offers, they may be slow to update it.
An agent can set up a search so homes fitting your parameters will be sent to you immediately.
We looked for 6 months, had offers on 4 different homes that did not work out and now found a house only thru our realtor as a "pocket listing" otherwise w probably would have been bid out by another family. Competition is fierce and I think the worst is when you somewhat emotionally attach yourself to a home and can see your family living in it and then POOF, it's gone... the deal went south and you have to start over -- ugh.

I hated house shopping. I really hope to never move again. It is so emotional and frustrating. We looked at so many houses, lost so many houses, thought we found a great house and had to walk away after inspections. Found our perfect forever house and were in a stressful bidding war. In the end the owners went with us (we met them at the first showing; we may have had our realtor harass them for it and they were there to let us in).
Good luck! In the end you will have a great house, but the entire process is frustrating, especially in a hot market.
