We looked all over our neighborhood and ones around us, H talked to everyone who was outside or had their garage open. No one has seen her. FIL is coming over to help H look more. H is putting up signs now. It's been a couple hours Lillian is home sick with a fever and now napping.
I let the dog out into the back yard and she some how pushed down a loose wood panel on our fence. It rained a TON last night and the wood where she got out was soaked. Or it was already broken without our knowledge. She was out maybe 15ish minutes before I went to get her back in because she didn't come back to the sliding doors like she usually does. It's so hot out and I am really worried. I feel horrible. Lillian keeps asking why she ran away.
Our house backs up to a semi-busy road. She got out another time a few years ago and she went a few houses down into their garage.
H called the greyhound rescue we got her from, our vet and the county. She has a chip but it's registered to the rescue group.
Please send some good thoughts our way.
Update - we just got a call that our dog was found and ok!! We don't know much but the Home Again service called and said a lady found her, called a local greyhound rescue who came to pick her up and then saw the alert on FB from Home Again. She's getting fluids and my H is waiting to hear from the rescue so he can go get her. Omg I am just so happy!! Thanks for all the good thoughts

I'm sorry. I hope she is found soon--good thinking in calling the vet and the rescue group. You are definitely not the worst dog owner, there is no way you could have known she would be able to get out.
Sending you good thoughts! Paper your neighbourhood with flyers and go door to door where you can. I found my cat after a week doing that. Also put out a cardboard box with her food and a towel or blanket that smells like you home. She might come back all on her own.
We lost our old dog when A was 4 months old. It was awful. We drove around for hours. My Dh canvassed the neighborhood for a few hours. After 4 hours, he was ready to just wait at home but I convinced him to go out one more time. We drove really slowly, with the windows down and called her name. We found her a few streets over when she was barking at another dog through a fence. I have never felt so sick like I did that day.
