My DH is going on a business trip to San Francisco, and has one or two meals on his own. He's staying at Hotel Carlton on Sutter St., so is looking for something either within walking distance, or a cheap Uber ride away. I know nothing about SF, so I have no idea whether this is near a lot of stuff, or in the middle of nowhere.
Something moderately priced - maybe less than $50, not including alcohol (but, inexpensive is OK, too). He mentioned sushi, "fancy pizza" (that's what he called it), vietnamese, Chinese, or Thai. When it comes to asian food, he usually likes rice noodle type dishes, or places where you can get a whole fish with the head on & everything. But, he's also lazy - so, if you know of somewhere amazing near his hotel or nearby that doesn't fit into these categories, that might work, too.
Any good recs? (He actually asked me if I could come here to ask... LOL)

I just had dinner at Archive the other night, and they have "fancy pizza". It's on Mission at 2nd St which looks like it'd probably be about a 20 min walk from his hotel. I also love the Ferry Building - ton of restaurants and food stores in one place, you can have a sit down meal or a bunch of snack-y things.
Akiko's Restaurant on Bush St. for sushi/Japanese, or Zero Zero on Folsom St. for fancy pizza/Italian.
And FYI - his hotel edges up on a sketchy part of town, so he should probably Uber or take a taxi after dark if he heads east towards Union Square, the Embarcadero, etc.
ETA: In the opposite direction a few blocks over is Polk St., which has several restaurants, but I don't have any specific recs.
I don't know that neighborhood at all. Lers Ros Thai has a couple locations, and I think both are reasonably close to that. Many people consider that place to be the best Thai in the city. I have enjoyed my meals there but I'm not an expert in Thai food.
I just scanned the map for nearby things. I've heard of Sweet Woodruffs, and hear they are good, but I think it's just sandwiches.
He probably can't go wrong with a burrito from just about anywhere.
Fly bar is in walking distance and has good pizza. Polk street is a fun area and has a ton of places to eat and drink. Brenda's soul food is nearby but I suggest he cabs it since it's central to a bad area.
