H is a supervisor in an iron factory. He is required to wear steel toe boots w/ metatarsal guard. His company pays for one pair per year, but he tends to go through 2 pairs. They are about $140-$160 a pair. His comany has a boot truck that goes to his worksite once per month, so he doesn't have to go shopping for them. They also deduct the cost from his check.
My H is a lawyer and his Mom buys his shoes. Some may say that is shameful, but I say MM. She also buys him suits. Score!
My mom buys me clothes and shoes. I dont ask her to, she just likes to shop I think. She works mostly at night and I think she gets bored during the day. Im not compaining.
Airline pilot - the only special shoe requirement for him is that the shoe doesn't have a metal shank so he can walk through airport security without taking off his shoes.
DH is a pilot too. Claims ECCO's are the most comfortabel dress shoes.
And ha, I just noticed your post and I think I "know" you from another website.
DH is a pilot too. Gets his ECCO's once a year at the Nordstrom anniversary sale!
Railroad Conductor. He has like 3 different pairs of Steel Toed Red Wing boots that he gets through work. They cost about $300 but he pays $60 and they take it out of his check pre-tax. Cha-ching!
My H works as a lab tech training for the rail road. They pay for 100% of his boots!
Attorney. I think he's had the same two pairs of dress shoes (one brown and one black) for about 10 years (fortunately, they still look like they are in good condition).
He wears hiking boots to work most days because of his site visits. He seems to do more of them than the women in his office who dress cute and wear heels.
SRSLY?! how do you know how often those women are on site vs. your husband, really?
i keep boots in my car for site visits and do what your h does on my own fucking projects, tyvm. it doesn't matter whether you're male or female to do this in most offices i've worked in--it depends on if it's your project and your position/role in the office and that specific project. when i'm the only person on my project, being a female does not mean i'm going to send some male in my office to do my dirty work so i can dress cutely and wear heels to work.
i rarely wear heels to work. our office is mostly women, and when any of us do wear heels, it's usually wedges/sandals/boots. and we only wear them on days we know we'll be working in the office all day and not called out to go on site. most of us have tennis shoes or boots in our car just in case we are called on site unexpectedly.
don't have a husband, but my SO works in private equity.
I think his shoes are expensive at $100/pair. but he says they are cheaper than the shoes his coworkers wear and way cheaper than the shoes his bosses wear. and ultimately I don't care. lol.
H is a petroleum engineer. Days in his regional office he wears loafers or his Kenneth Coles. If he is headed to his district offices or to the field, steel toed boots.
