My married name is worse in the cool factor, but better in the spelling factor. I loved my maiden name, but not do I sure love finally having one part of my name that people can spell correctly without me spelling it out for them.
For legal reasons I actually didn't change my last name. I go by my maiden name for anything work related or legal stuff and socially go by my H's last night.
I would say my maiden name is much easier to spell and say, but my H's last name is a little more unique.
I lost an eleven letter German name no one could pronounce to a four letter name. It's nice having a name easy to pronounce, but I kind of miss my maiden name.
I hyphenated mine, which I kind of hate. It's so long and no one ever gets it right. My maiden name was awesome and I miss it. I've actually debated going back to it, but I feel like that might give people the wrong idea about the state of my marriage, lol
Both my last names have gotten spelled wrong so many times. People tended to drop a letter from my maiden name and add an n to my current last name. My new one is more rare which I suppose is good and bad. I don't get asked if I'm related to some random person with the same last name anymore!
My maiden name is very Italian sounding but easy to pronounce and spell. My married name is much more common and has no obvious ethnic association. I ended up changing my maiden name to my middle name and I think my full name has a nice flow to it.
It's about the same. Both fairly common British last names, easy to pronounce and spell. Well, my maiden name is easy to pronounce for most people, but with my lisp, I have hard time with it (starts with S).
Up for sure. My maiden name was difficult to pronounce, but my married name is easy and nicer-sounding. They start with the same letter, which is nice because my initials didn't change.
Both pretty common, married name has a couple spellings so I have to spell it sometimes. Moved down in the alphabet though! I was always first on rosters in school and now I'm down towards the end. I like my married name though!
I had a fairly normal maiden name. My married name is a little different and most people either spell or pronounce it incorrectly. I did move up in the alphabet a lot tho!
my SIL told me I was crazy to take on their family name when I had such a good one already! LOL

My dad tried to talk me into hyphenating. Yeah, no. I already had an apostrophe in my maiden name and my middle name, there was no way I was going to add another piece of punctuation to my name. Haha.

When I got married, my boss at the time had a few choice words regarding my name change. In front of a new hire, he asked me what my new married name was (he received a wedding invite....but apparently didn't look at it). When I told him he said, "HMMPH...I would have kept my maiden name" then walks off to leave me with with our new employee.

My maiden last name was a very common last name, think Smith in nature. My married name is Portuguese, and should be easy to pronounce but you'd be surprised at how many people get it wrong.
