How's the winter going? It's the end of the coldest week here in over 20 years -- and it has been COLD! What are you reading curled up in front of the fire?
(No, I'm not in the wrong season. I'm in the Southern Hemisphere where it's the middle of winter.)
QOTW: What was the most unusual item in your grocery basket this week (or the last time you went shopping)?
I'm reading The Animals by Christian Kiefer. I really loved his first book, The Infinite Tides, so I'm hopeful about this one.
Our summer has been very un-summery. Constant rain, temps mostly in the 70s. Ugh. Real summer is my favorite and I love the heat, so this is miserable for me.
QOTW: I can't think of anything unusual. Maybe Epsom salts for a project with DD, but that's fairly normal.
Reading: At the Water's Edge, but literally just started
Weirdest thing: My amazon basket currently has the Loch Ness Monster ladle thanks to P&CE! I'm obsessed with it - waiting for my amazon GCs to arrive to purchase.
Also, it's kind of fitting given the book I'm reading!

Just about to finish Heresy by SJ Parris. It was ok. It's a mystery set in Tudor England. Mysteries aren't my favorite genre but I like historical fiction set in the time period so much I thought id give it a try.
Also rechecked out The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy, an audio book that I didn't finish before it expired. So I just need to listen to the last few chapters.
Next up is Life After Life by Kate Atkinson. A recommendation I got from here.

I'm reading Vampires, Bones, and Treacle Scones. I'm enjoying it, but it's not really grabbing me the way others in the series have.
QOTW: Dehydrated Peas -- I was looking for peas to put in my ramen soup, and the freezer section of the grocery was off limits -- they had had a problem with the coolant and everything had thawed. So I had to find something else. I saw the dehydrated peas and thought, why not? They were going in a soup anyway. (Dehydrated peas are not the same as dried peas; they are like the peas in dry soup mixes and can cook in as little as 5 minutes.)
