Just FYI: my husband & I have a pact that we will move to Canada if Trump ever becomes president of this country. The support he's been shown so far is humiliating (as an American), & we don't want to live in a country who takes what we initially saw as a huge joke way too far
I totally get that. I wouldn't want to either.
Should that every happen (please god no, because the results of your election does affect us in some way or another) I can recommend some good places to live
I totally disagree that trump is only doing well because of name recognition. This is simply not true. He ran before and didn't have this level of R support but he was just as "famous" before as he is now. In addition his numbers didn't spike until his "Mexicans are rapists" speech. The bottom line is trump is winning because he is tapping into racist america. And 60% of Rs like what they hear.

Bingo.
And frankly, I don't see why people are so surprised or can't explain his success. We have had eight years of coded language, winks and nudges about Obama's birth certificate and loyalty to America, and dog whistle politics. So duh, resentment is building. Is it really any surprise that there's now millions of people who are unashamed about their support for an unabashed racist?
Here is the hard truth: Trump is the tree that grew from the seeds planted by Sarah Palin and watered daily by the RNC and Fox News. He is the GOP.
1. I think he was joking last time but I am afraid this time he actually means it 2. I don't think he would win the general election 3. I have voted Republican before, but I would not vote for him. Before he was polling so well, I would have voted for him in a primary just to screw around, but now that he seems to have legitimate fans, no way.

I am not sure if he is serious or not but outside of his Apprentice escapades he is a legit businessman. So I waiver on how seriously people take him. I am sure there are some that find his business side appealing.
Donald J. Trump ✔@realdonaldtrump .@senjohnmccain should be defeated in the primaries. Graduated last in his class at Annapolis--dummy! 4:39 PM - 16 Jul 2015 1,410 1,410 Retweets 1,887 1,887 favorites
did he really just call the guy he endorsed in 2008 a dummy? FFS Donald the man was a POW.. Gah. I actually feel bad for Republicans bc of this jackass.
PEOPLE! Donald Trump is trolling us! He is trolling America! Do not feed the trolls, even the "billionaire" ones!
He's a guy who was born rich and used his wealth and father's connections to become richer through real estate development deals, some of which were successful, some of which were not.
The best example of his business savvy is his ability to turn his character into profit, a la the Kardashians. I do not believe he's taken seriously in the business world.

Yep. Right racist dogwhistling and Right love affairs with corporations have come home to roost in the form of Trump.

I don't know if he is taken seriously business wise, but I know someone who is a peer/acquaintance of his and cannot stand him and his antics. He sounds like a really gross person.
1. Joke and he's an attention whore. He's in it for publicity and is just spouting his usual nonsense without having to worry about repercussions. He will be out before he has to disclose his financials. 2. No. Not a chance. 3. I typically vote based on the candidate rather than party, and have voted in the Republican primary the last few cycles. I'm registered as an unaffiliated voter and my state allows me to pick which primary I want to vote in. There is zero chance I would vote for the Donald in a primary or general election.
There's a segment of our voting pool that thinks its awesome when people "tell it like it is" even when the teller is full of crap. Those people on my fb feed seem to be the ones sharing his crap.
I think a lot of supporters don't realize that because he's a successful businessman, he knows how to market himself. He knows what he's saying is going to be sensationalized, and his words are just a ploy to start a ruckus. He won't win the GOP, but I'm having a good time watching this clusterfuck. Although, the last GOP round wasn't much better with Bachmann, Herman Cain, and so on.
I love Guelph! What a great city. I went to Laurier for uni but several of my girlfriends went to Guelph. Love it. Actually my favourite coworkers of my husband live there.
DH just texted me that he wants to buy a cottage in Wasaga Beach (I've wanted to for a while) so maybe we can have a GTG there next year if we do!
