I travel when ever the opportunity happens. Last year was a huge travel year for me. This year I bought a house so I am not traveling. I currently have itchy feet so bad it hurts. I want to go somewhere!
I have decided thought that I love traveling over Christmas or Thanksgiving. It is such a nice change of pace. I am hoping to travel somewhere next spring.
My vacation time is limited, so I usually try and take advantage of a PTO day or two, to extend our stays. For the past few years, that has had us traveling during Memorial Day and Labor Day. It works out because it winds up being shoulder season in a lot of areas, and since they are not U.S destinations, it's not really classified as holiday travel. EX: London & Paris- Memorial Day, Italy- Labor Day, Tortola- Memorial Day.
ETA: For smaller trips, we take them whenever we feel like a weekend getaway. This year that meant/means, Charleston in March, NYC in April, and Savannah in November.
ETA2: I totally forgot that we are doing a trip to the PNW this Labor Day...so yeah. A lot of Labor Day & Memorial Day travel for us. When you only have 2 weeks of PTO, you need to make it stretch!
Inspired by the fact that practically everyone in my city is on holiday at the moment...
Do you tend to plan trips at the same time of year? What are the biggest factors in choosing when you travel?
We go to Europe in the early Spring and the beach in the late summer. We have smaller trips here and then based around weddings, girls weekends, etc. but that's our main schedule.

We usually decide when to travel based on where we are traveling. We tend to do one long vacation (2+ weeks)and several long weekends per year. This year, FIL took the entire family to Hawaii in June which was not my first choice. We had very little input on when we went since it was a family vacation, but you can't complain too much when someone else is footing the bill. We do tend to travel during the shoulder season of wherever we are going, and that's worked pretty well so far.
