Yeah this is bad. These athletes are wrecked. Why do this at the hottest part of the day too???
As for Fisher- a team from a gym is a team from the gym. They can submit an 8 person roster for regionals and an 8 person roster for the games. 2 alternates and 6 competitors. They do not have to be the same people between games and regionals. As long as the person is vetted as a member of that gym then they can be on the team. Fisher was hurt at regionals and once she got healthy im sure They switched her out.
I think it sucks for the girl who lost her spot but it's always been the case with teams.

Oh, and the team, masters and teens is broadcast on the CrossFit site. Individuals is on watchespn.com but you need a cable provider log in if you are on a mobile device. Or the watch espn app on Roku- it's free there. It will be on normal Espn or espn2 on Sunday.

Ok. This makes sense. For some reason I thought they had changed this.
Oh yea, done. Webb is all sorts of out of it. Annie's legs will probably keep seizing up for awhile. I'm impressed that some of those other ladies finished and didn't look too beat up.
After seeing that I'm worried for my trail run at 4:30 in this CA heat.
Is it me or does it look like there are a lot of empty seats?
It filled up more as the day went on. I think a lot of people had to work Friday morning, but tomorrow will probably be busier. And omg, it was so hot today. I am exhausted just from standing and walking around in the heat! I seriously don't know how these athletes are competing, I have so much respect for them.
So far my weekend is awesome, it's just a cool atmosphere, and things seem generally well done and well organized. I met Andrea Ager, Christmas Abbott, Jackie Perez and Chris Spealler today, so that was all pretty cool too!
The programming in general didn't sound super exciting to me this year, not just for the teams, but seeing Khalipa and Froning going head to head in the team competition just a few bleacher rows away was still kind of surreal considering they're usually just on my computer screen.
I need to bitch about the coveage. It's in the guide for playing right now from 12-3 but it's not airing. There's a scroll across the bottom saying Program Alert: Crossfit games now airing on ESPNEWS and watch ESPN.
Why can't they get their shit together with this by now?
I can't tell if it's HQ's fault or espn's fault. But it blows.

Did you guys see coverage of Miranda Oldroyd tearing her ACL? I'm not sure if they had that moment on camera. It wasn't obvious that she'd hurt herself, like the way she fell just looked like she lost her balance and nbd, except that she clearly looked scared right away. Poor thing. I wanted NorCal to win!
Lauren Brooks is super friendly, so far she's the athlete who's taken the most time to chat with fans from what I've seen. I also got over my awkwardness of "Oh, they're people too, don't bother them with a photo you weirdo" in time to literally grab Jason Khalipa for a pic before he left a group of fans. I'm on my phone, so please just mentally insert a blushing emoji here.

I was at a beer fest yesterday and missed most of the coverage, so I'm catching up. During the chipper, they kept showing her on the sidelines crying. It was heartbreaking. I guess they'll withdraw?
emilyinchile - are people there talking about how unsafe the programming was this year?
Not that I've heard, but I honestly also am not really talking to anyone except my friend that I'm here with. It hasn't been a "standing in line small talk" level of conversation, but that's all I can tell you.
NorCal said yesterday that they were waiting to hear if they'd be allowed to compete today. I think that if Julie Foucher was allowed to do what she could in regionals then NorCal should be allowed to continue doing what they can here, but I guess we'll see what happens.

Also not sure if you guys know what happened to Neal Maddox? I don't know what it was exactly beyond something during the sprint, since we don't get the benefit of the more chatty commentary. But one of my favorite inspiring moments so far has been the standing ovation cheering him to the finish line as he limped along.

They were saying hamstring but didn't specifically say the problem
