At one point I looked into working for a company that does in-store demonstrations. You'd set up at a bed bath and beyond or Costco or something and demonstrate Soda Stream machines or Keurigs.
It didn't work out for me, but a friend of mine did it and made something like $20/hr.
You'll make the most money, quickly, by waiting tables. I know you've done that before, is there a reason you don't want to again?
I disagree. With my availability and other skills I can make just as much, if not more, elsewhere.
Not to mention, I'm completely burnt out by serving. So I'm exploring other options. It's debt payoff + travel money so I'd rather it be something I enjoy vs something that I don't.

Go apply at Stone. They need Stone company store team members in San Diego and the Kettner location is hiring for part time positions. Its retail and you can get free beer.

Keep an eye on the craigslist jobs/gigs listings. Most of them are sketchy, but every now and then there's a legit small business needing someone to manage their social media, do administrative work or some similar odd job. I've found that the pool of people applying for these is usually pretty poor, so they're fairly easy to get. IME, whoever is needing the work done is usually so excited to have a qualified person that they're willing to be flexible with hours.

Ya that's what I've found as well. I've had a lot if success on that site re employment opportunities.
I had a short term gig once a long time ago where a catering company would call me to serve wine at high end events. I was only paid $10 an hour however I got to keep all the tips and they were MUCH more than $10 an hour so I ended up making bank quickly! I gave it up because it was normally friday/saturday nights or prime times that I'd rather be doing other things.
EDIT: To clarify, I'd simply stand at a table and there was only white or red wine and people would walk up to get a glass... easy peasy. It was events mostly like museum social's for their big donors, stuff like that.
I *really* want to get away from anything hospitality industry related. I'm so so so burnt out that I don't even want to go out to a restaurant! Lol.
I would think a weekend catering job would be the most $$ for the time. You could probably get away with doing one night a week at a function or wedding and make almost $1000 a month. Normal pay in my area is $15 an hour and we are not HCOL and then people are tipped on top of that. That way you still get most nights free. I'm all about preserving free time.

Ya... Again, I'm just not about catering or serving or anything of that nature. I don't want to sound petty but I've been in and out of that industry for years and I'm just ready for something else.
Babysitting? Where I live, adults with first aid and drivers license get paid $15/hr for babysitting. If you were willing to stay a weekend so parents could go out of town, you could make a ton of cash. Just depends on how much you like kids I guess.
We pay our house cleaner $16/hr and provide all the supplies. If you like to organize, it might be a fun p/t thing. You can listen to music and zone out for a few hours.

This!
Sitting, if you don't like kids you could do care companion services for memory impaired older adults. I know people post jobs for this on care.com

Wouldn't it be hard to get cleaning gigs that are nights/weekends, though?
That's something that I think she needs to keep in mind here -- some jobs just are not by their nature night/weekend jobs. Dog walkers, for example -- I'd bet there aren't many people hiring night-time dog walkers on any regular basis. Nor do people want someone cleaning their homes during family dinner time.
Bliss, could you take on more work/clients from your day job? I think you've said that you bill out at something like $35 a hour and I'd think that would be by far more lucrative than any of the other options you could come up with.

A lot of banks/office building hire people to clean after hours on evenings and weekends.

That is true, but seems like something that would be for really shitty pay and that would require full shifts? Might be hard to balance that with a full-time day job.

I have a flexible schedule so I could clean houses or walk dogs or whatever.
I can only take on a limited number of projects. And I've increased my rates again.
Plus, I really don't mind working somewhere 15-25 hours a week. I'm single so it gives me a lot of options.
But the main reason is to payoff my debt asap. So I'm more than willing to put the hours in now to have a debt free future.
I know you don't want to hear it, but bar tending/waiting tables is your best bet here. House cleaners, dog walkers, etc, are going to be more weekday type gigs. You could babysit, but that's not going to bring in 1K/month.
I disagree based on friends who are dog walkers, etc and hold full time jobs. They do it nights and weekends (mostly for vacationers or business people who travel frequently).
I know, I know, bartending is the way to go. But, I'm burnt out and there's no reason to keep doing it when I have other options.

I dont know why I didn't think of this sooner. Football season starts in a few weeks and they should still have positions at the stadium. While it won't be an every week thing it would be a good seasonal job for some extra $$. delawarenorth.teamworkonline.com/teamwork/jobs/jobskey.cfm?s=San+Diego

What traveling businessperson is having their dog walked *only* at night?
So what's the deal with the hours here -- by "I'd need it to be nights / weekends" did you mean that it is nights/weekends, or did you mean during weekdays at well? But if it is weekdays, how are you not better off just doing your regular PR stuff then for $35/hour? I think you'd be waaaaaay better off spending your time doing higher-paid work that furthers your career.

I'd prefer nights and weekends. But for something like dog walking then I can make my own schedule. A few hours in the morning (8-12) or a few hours at night (6-10) depending on the day of the week. Dogs still need to be walked at night...
As for my full time work, I can only handle so many projects. It's just not feasible to take on more clients. I'm hitting my career milestones and will continue to do so.
The point of extra money is to pay off my debt asap. I'm single, able to work, and still have a social life. I've had 2+ jobs for the better part of my adult life, I'm more than happy to continue doing so so that I can have a better future.

Thanks. Not sure if I want to go back to concessions.
I realize I'm being picky here. I'm just completely over food and anything that deals with food. I'm so so so so burnt out and if I don't *have* to do it, I won't.
