I just expected it to be less formulaic romantic comedy, I thought the POINT was that it was going to be different. But it wasn't. And I really like Amy Schumer, don't get me wrong, but I think she's better suited for stand-up and skit shows, not full length movies. I just don't think she has the acting skills for it.
It was also really long. I thought the intro part setting her up as this loose and carefree single girl could have been way shorter. By the time they introduced Bill Hader I was like "Oh yeah! That's what this movie is about!"
And the stuff with the sister felt forced and so did the leaving his speech to answer a phone call thing to start their "big fight".
I agree with the bolded. Bill Hader is adorbable, I love him.
I used to think Bill Hader was so creepy - but started to really love him on SNL when he had a few less creepy characters. I still haven't seen Trainwreck, but will soon. I'm glad most of you liked it.

I pretty much always am disappointed by comedies when I see them in the theater. They are usually ok, just not $14 ok. More like $2 at redbox ok. The dance scene part was really cute. But a lot of the funny lines just fell kinda flat imo. And the story was very predictable. Meh.
TR I agree with you. I thought it was going to be different and it wasn't. It had some funny moments, but I really felt like she sold out to the typical rom com. As a single girl that's why I love her stop much, so I really disappointed in the story. I did find a lot of it funny, but mostly the beginning parts.

I really liked it and I now have the unexpected hots for Bill Hader.
I did think it was about 20-30 min too long and they could have done without some of the serious parts. I also thought the intervention scene was not that funny.

I liked it, minus that.
I also didn't see the finale scene coming, which totally seems like the type of thing one would assume when she started talking about them. My movie prediction radar is broken.

The scene where Amy slept over Aaron's house for the first time and she was like "I'm a really light sleeper... and if you move, it'll wake me up and then I'll spend the whole night resenting you. I can feel you breathing" had my H laughing so hard he was crying because that is us. He's a cuddler and I'm like "Um. Stop breathing in my neck. We bought this GIANT ASS BED and you want to be right on top of me. GO AWAY." while shoving both of our body pillows in between us.
I laughed a lot. Loved John Cena and LeBron. Totally related to the bed scene -- my H leaned over and said "She's one of your people" after that. I was also really glad that none of the jokes were gross humor. I really liked it.
Actually both are gross. I guess I meant they didn't dwell on it. I don't know, usually I'm not a huge fan of Judd Apatow movies and I thought this one was really funny.
Cheapskate Lebron was my favorite, and I definitely laughed. The ongoing I'm-a-slut gag with the only "redemption" being to fall madly in love/be saved by a man is sort of the antithesis of the sharp feminist critiques that Amy Schumer's other work offers. That's what disappointed me.
Whoa. Not my read of the movie at all.
Me either :/
My read was that she had to be happy with herself/love herself before she could have a more meaningful committed relationship. I do t see how Bill Hader "saved" her at all...

I just saw it on Tuesday and I died laughing through the whole thing. I legit had tears in my eyes at the ending dance scene. I loved LeBron. The whole thing was great. I almost always laugh silently in my head while watching TV/movies and I was laughing outwardly at this movie.
And, yes, I'm resurrecting this thread. Don't care.

I think some of it definitely fell flat, it was a bit long and the Dad/Amy/Sister relationship made me cry. But when it was funny, it was pee my pants funny and those parts made up for the rest, imo. Also, I just love her, so.
