Has any information been released about thr results of the independent autopsy? I've looked for articles but as of Friday they all say they are still awaiting results.
On local news last night the only details that were released indicate there was marijuana in her system. Of COURSE that is the only released info. But now there is a special additional task force to investigate what happened.

What's strange about the marijuana in her system is that it had very high levels, and she had been in jail for 3 days. Why were her levels so high after 3 days in jail?? Seems suspicious to me. They're saying she must have consumed some when she was in jail. But 1. where did she get it, if they would have searched her and she was alone in her cell and 2. how did nobody notice her using it?

Could she have swallowed a stash right at the stop?

THC takes a long time to clear the body as it is absorbed in fat tissues. So if you have high levels at the beginning, even if you stop, you continue to dump the residue into your blood, urine, and tissues for over 30-60 days if you used it regularly.

Perhaps conspiracy theory territory but I wonder if they found something and are getting 2nd opinions so when it comes out it's harder for the PD to refute.

"Very high" levels is not very descriptive.
I was repeating what I heard on the radio, but the expert said that the levels were abnormally high for someone who had been in jail for three days. I personally am not a toxicology expert so I have no idea what numbers that corresponds to, but the expert quoted believed that there was something off.
This is why many people (not just pot users, ) want to do away with testing for THC because the only thing you are really looking for is the *spike* in levels which can be better indicated by, you know, observing the person for symptoms. Like "Are they presently high?". Even with the spike, its not indicative of whether they smoked 5 minutes ago or say, 4 hours ago.

I don't know. How much would you have to swallow to have those levels 3 days later (I have no idea - pot is not my area of expertise)? Wasn't the stop on tape too?
do almost all places now have drug testing/screning? or would a college/university likely have it? or is that done when the hiring process starts, not necessarily when her employments tarts? Something to add to all the strangeness going on...

In my personal experience, most places have random drug tests, or simply say they reserve the right to ask for one. My brother has worked at 3 universities and has not been drug tested.

My last job was at a university and I was not tested when I was hired. But about 5 years ago, they started testing all new hirees. SO has to be available for random drug tests whenever HR calls him.

H has never had to take a drug test for his postdoc position or for his Visiting Prof position. Between us the only job that has ever drug tested (or even hinted at it) was when I was a bank teller.

Highly unlikely. One does not just swallow flowers. If she had a concentrate, I suppose you could swallow it...depends. But, since she wasn't travelling from or through Colorado, I seriously doubt she had concentrate. Or high quality edibles, for that matter.
Honestly, I think the toxicologist would be surprised to learn how high concentrations can be in chronic smokers. THC is stored in fat cells, so it's released pretty much constantly until it's gone.

I have worked for one private and three public and have never been tested. I don't think it is normal practice.

If someone wanted to they could easily acquire concentrate in Texas...
If she had swallowed a concentrate she may have started hallucinating, and since she already had depression it may have exacerbated it leading her to kill herself.

I have no idea. Are there any instances of THC causing someone to commit suicide? I feel like everything you read about is that THC is safe safe

I work in education (higher ed/independent schools) and drug testing is very rare for employment, at least in my local area.

People are fighting throughout the country to legalize marijuana because it is supposedly not harmful. So I am having a hard time swallowing that this is somehow the trigger to make her suicidal. In addition I don't recall her arrest being due to a suspicion of her being under the influence so I really don't get the relevance of debating her THC levels.

If someone has existing depression or other mental health issues it could make them do something they wouldn't have done not under the influence of drugs. THC is a psychotic and she had a very high amount in her system.

Smoking marijuana is much different from ingesting THC concentrate. Most people ingest THC in very small amounts within edible products.
No, she wasn't arrested for being under the influence. The THC may very well be relevant if it's what lead to her death.

I'm sure it's possible to get concentrates in every state. But they're difficult to produce and aren't really cost effective unless you can make them commercially and sell them legally. They're really hard to find in other states. That's not to say it isn't possible, I just think it's extremely unlikely in this case.
I work in higher ed in Texas, and I think it is more common here to be dug tested. I've been tested at three of the four institutions I have worked at.
