Oh man, this is awful. I wish I had some knowledge that could helpful, but all I have are hugs and support. I would absolutely take this escrow bullshit up with the mortgage company. Get it the hell out of there and apply it to my principle! Surely there's a way they can do that. I agree with the suggestion to at least consult with a lawyer to see if they can help at all. Good luck!

Please, please let us help, dear girl. You have been an amazing support to others on this board; please let us repay that just a tiny. I want to get you back to being ok, & would really appreciate the opportunity to help you get there... SO it's actually like you'd be doing US a favor... (Is this working at all? ) So Many hugs.

I'm so sorry- you don't need this crap on top of everything else.
How about a GFM to help pay a foreclosure lawyer? It sounds like you need professional help to challenge shady bank shenanigans. Any additional money could be applied towards payments.

I'm so, so sorry and angry you are dealing with this fuckery.
I, too, would be happy to donate. And I hope you'd consider putting it toward a lawyer to begin with. I cannot wish enough bad things on your mortgage company.
I am so sorry you have such money problems. You are not alone.
My advice: 1. talk to your DH. That initial conversation may be awful but I think you said in your OP that he doesn't know what's up. You have to get it out on the table.
2. Go for a loan modification. It's a ton of paperwork but might be a great option in lowering your monthly payment. Talk to the mortgage company. Something is not right about what they are telling you.
3. Talk to a bankruptcy attorney. The initial consultation should be free and this is an option. People are afraid of bankruptcy and it will ruin your credit but Chapter 13 (not 7) does allow for you to get on a reasonable payment plan you can afford for most of your debt (while allowing you to continue paying on your secure debt such as mortgage and car payments).
4. Talk to a foreclosure attorney. Again, first consultation should be free. They may be able to help you with an alternative as well.
5. Consider selling your house. I don't know if that's an option but maybe downsizing would be ideal and more affordable.
I truly hope things work out for you. I can only imagine your stress level - take care of yourself, this will work out eventually.

I am so so sorry you are going through this. Contacting the attorney general may help as well. Banks have some seriously shady business practices and when my mom had a similar problem the AG jumped right in it. They have a whole team dedicated for this specifically. Also, please consider the GFM. We would like to help in any way we can.
Sending big hugs and good thoughts. The fact that medical expenses can be so incredibly burdensome to the point of bankruptcy or foreclosure makes me so sad/ragey.
