Anyone have a recommendation on a company to go whitewater rafting with? Or a certain part of WV to go to? We'll be spending 6 days in North Carolina and will spending a weekend in West Virginia before heading home. TIA!

New River Gorge is the place to raft in WV. They have the toughest rapids and you can do the Gauley which is ranked 8th in the world for best whitewater. I've used Passages to Adventure in the past, but their site isn't up to date. It's still there though with phone information. They also offer a lot of other outdoor activities. I've done a few rivers and loved this area. It goes through old mining country with a huge old train bridge in the New River section that has a rappelling festival in October called Bridge Fest. We rafted under a few people repelling off the bridge who were swinging and we had to time it just right to get through. It was awesome.
Did you do anything else in the area? My H was researching most of the rafting stuff and booked us to camp and raft with wva. We are staying 3 nights- arriving on a Friday night, rafting Saturday, Sunday is open to explore the area, then Monday driving home to Michigan. Thanks!

No, actually. We just went for a weekend, specifically to raft. Stayed Friday night, went rafting Saturday then camped Saturday night and left Sunday morning. I know there's lots of good hiking and you might be able to find a climbing company, too. It's kind of the middle of no where! We had to drive on a literal dirt road to get there from 77, LOL.

This just showed up in my email with Groupon. It might be worth checking out since it's an outfitter that provides more than just one service. I'd check out their Trip Advisor reviews. The outfitter I mentioned in my other post did rafting, camping, rappelling, mountain biking, and combinations of any or all of the above. The one I used even had a connection with luxury cabins.
