Want to hear about an intense guy? I've posted about him before. He was the "text stalker." I met him once, gave him my number thinking it was for business purposes, met him for coffee, and then he texted me 40 times in 2 days. I eventually blocked him and he finally stopped texting me.
I saw him tonight through mutual friends. When he left at 9 he started texting me again. I got a new phone and I guess blocked numbers don't transfer. I was still out until 11. In those 2 hours, he sent 6 texts.
At first he was thanking me for greeting him and hoping we can be friends. He said he screwed up the first time, he's sorry, and he cares about me. (We met twice.) And then when I didn't respond within 1 hour, he jumped to being offended that his sincere apology means nothing to me. He is disappointed in me. I am heartless. No emotions at all. ::teary-eyed emoji::
Did you ask him to stop texting you the first time or just block him? I would do both.
The first time around I told him that he was making me uncomfortable, but he kept right on. So I told him that we are not compatible as friends and I wouldn't respond to him anymore, and I blocked him.
When I saw him tonight he said in front of the group that he was making friends with all of my friends to try to find people who are "compatible as friends." He said a few other things to repeat my words back at me.
I think the only thing to do at this point is just not respond at all.

This guy would be crossing a line for me into more than just weird or annoying, he seems vengeful with the repeating your words back to you thing and started up the incessant texting right away again. Very creepy, Do you end up seeing him often?
Save copies of your text exchanges, or in this instance his texts to you tonight. Just in case he escalates, it'll be important to have a record of his erratic behavior. I'd also make a notation of his behavior tonight. Write down everything you remember about your interactions. And as you already know, do not respond to him.

How much time has passed since you first met him. I'm asking to figure out just how weird it is that he held onto your number and his anger that long. Like, a few weeks, and I can see him still being hurt, but more than a year, and he's really psycho. Either way, I'd still keep far away from him, but it would help me decide if further action beyond blinking his number again is necessary.

See, this is the exact kind of guy who will now complain that nice guys finish last, when really it's an astounding lack of social skills and restraint.
Back when I was dating, I would flat out tell guys, "do not call me too soon or too often." But even then there were dudes who just didn't get it. They tended to creep me out even though it was mostly harmless.
To answer a few questions, I have told my friends about him. I don't see him a lot, but I'm in a social group that meets every Monday and he could start coming to that more often.
He could figure out where I work. In my head I've drawn the line that if he shows up at my work I'll take more serious steps. My coworkers know about him.
I told him in early May that I was done, so a little more than 2 months ago.
Did you end up meeting him for coffee that first time? #priorthreadstalker
Yes, I did. I figured it's just coffee, and it might turn out to be a business connection. The meeting for coffee was actually pretty normal. Then the weird texting behavior started up again and that was when I cut it off.

Oh man. I briefly dated a guy like this once. If I didn't respond immediately to his texts it was l "hello?? You're ignoring me now? " And a million texts to follow. Fortunately he was harmless, just totally needy and clueless. Ugh.
