Your local trash company should have all rates on their website.
I've rented 2 different size dumpsters. The fee wasn't based on the length that I needed it, but rather on the amount of times I needed it dumped, plus drop-off and pick-up fee.
I rented a 20 cu ft dumpster for $400 (drop off fee), with $300 per dump.
Little dumpster was $500 and the giant one was a $1000. We had a week to fill it up. Went through our regular trash company.
Ours was less than that when we lived in CA, but I can't remember the price. I just remember being sad that we didn't still have the next door neighbors with the friend who would let us have it for free.
You could check into using a bagster. Our area in CA didn't have the service, but people that I knew in other parts of SoCal did, and it was pretty reasonable. We bought a bagster bag to use here, but just as we were setting it up our trash guys came for regular pickup and wanted to know why we were using the competition. They let my contracter throw everything that we had planned to throw in the bagster into their truck. I don't remember what the pick up cost would have been, but with tips, snacks and drinks for the guys, and the cost of the bag (which we have put to use in a non dumpster way for now), I'm sure we came out even or ahead. We have the best trash guys.

Washington, you pay the troll toll for anything not green.

I wish that was the case here. People here are so wasteful, and the recycling program is way behind the times. We can only put out what fits inside the little rectangular bins, and it can't stick up over the top or they won't pick it up. The new guy is a bit better, but the last guy was impossible. We were used to people who wanted us to recycle and wouldn't pick up more than our regular trash bin once a week. Here they will take something like a dozen bags/bins, (or more) and we have pick up twice a week. It kills me to see how much people throw away.
In all fairness, the price in CA had gone up quite a bit from the first time we rented one...back before we had an incredible recycling program, but we paid a lot for trash/recycling anyway. The one great thing was that practically everything was recyclable, and you could put out as much recycling as you wanted.

Yep - mostly for demolition projects, but we also rented one when we cleaned out the rental house...
Cost us about $300 for the small one. You can call your trash company for prices in your area. You don't usually pay for the # of days, more like a flat fee for the dumpster then they come and get it when you need it taken.
Bagster cost $35 for the bag, then you have to pay $150 - $180 for the bag to be removed. Doesn't hold a whole lot AND it's hard to keep the sides up while you fill it. IMO it's easier to get the dumpster, plus then you don't need to worry about what/how much goes in it.
We had a 15 yard. It was $425 for two weeks. We later got a bagster and I don't think we will again. It took them forever to pick up and the dumpster held so much more.
I rented a 30 yd dumpster for a week and it cost $420. Be sure to ask if there is a weight limit. For us, a flat rate was the way to go because we were disposing tree stumps.
