is FULLY AWESOME. The people organizing it are acting dictatorial (as I might be too if I were trying to herd cats), the rabble is rebelling, people are making lewd jokes, at least two women have referred to how it's so great they can still fit into their high school sports uniforms (got it, you're soooooo skinny still), and two people had an exchange about maybe meeting up after that they quite apparently didn't realize was visible to the whole group (inside jokes and slamming coattendees) until they got burned publicly.
I graduated with like 700 people so it's riiiiiiidiculous.

Nice! And also? You need to go. If for no other reason to watch the awkward drama unfold in person.
Our group is mostly defunct, except for a few random posts from our class president about how for our 20 year "OMG, we're gonna go on a CLASS CRUISE Y'ALL!!! Mexico here we come!"
No. No we're not. Just like we didn't go on a class cruise our senior year (genius election strategy/promise, by the way), I'm sure as hell not going on a vacation with people I haven't seen for 20 years, and basically just "keep up with" by liking their kid posts on facebook.

I wish my class had a group like that! I was 500 people, so I'm sure we could get some drama going. I wanna watch it.
Although, we can't get reunions organized either, so I doubt a FB group would take off. So far, we've had a 6 year and 12 year reunion. Nothing for our 20. I'm guessing since we had a 6 and a 12, we are on track for a 24 year one?? who knows.
I was also totally in my reunion group for awesome drama and people watching.
Here was the summary of the evening by the guy who took over planning: "i just gotta come out and say....man... that reunion was just awesome. i whipped that shit up and it was just a really fun time. DJ was on point... and even though i didn't chill with Kyle [redacted] a bunch back in the day (due to the fact we competed with some of the same ladies lol ) he really came out and showed some generosity and bought a few of us some shots etc. and had a damn good time. little disappointed to not see a few people, but that was nothing compared to how live the people that came got. some of yall were on that level lol. dancing on tables, walking around the bar with no shoes, i think i seen someone just straight daggering on the floor lol..... i feel bad for the people that hated and went out of their way not to come... they seriously missed out. c/o 2004... GO BEARS!"
If anything, people turned out really well in the sense that everybody was pretty cordial to everybody else, even if that was not the case 20 years ago.
I'm oddly proud of my high school class now, and I hated it when I was there. LOL.

No way. It's in my hometown, which is a DC bedroom community, in the dead of August on a Friday night. I ain't flying and taking off a day of work.
The passive aggressive post liking is the best! One snarky response was liked by a ton of people, including Adam. Krissy, Adam's friend from high school and total wet blanket and also dictatorial organizer posts "ouch, Adam." Then Krissy's crew starts liking her post.
Mine was last year and I had just been home for my bff's 40th bday, so no way was I flying back twice within a couple weeks. I skipped that and had no FOMO at all.

I just had my 20 yr in May. A small group of us were discussing how our 25 yr should be 'unsanctioned' since the school-sponsored event left a lot to be desired. One girl said,"Let's charter a yacht for our 25th! It'll be amazing!" Uhhhh...I think we lead pretty different lives now, sister. I won't be chartering a yacht anytime soon, but thanks. Funnier was that the other girls totally agreed with her. Guess I'll be staying home.
I wasn't involved with the 10 yr reunion (5 yrs ago) but since I've joined the FB group they are constantly arranging GTGs. No I don't want to go to homecoming.
We have one weirdo that stalks our FB profiles and then posts photo collages. She PMed me asking if I could give her info to go next to my collage. I told her I'd prefer to not be featured. She did it anyway and then speculated that my job must be top secret and thanks why I didn't want to divulge details. But added stuff like "it appears carrots got married last year and has a dog. Now we're waiting for kids! Anyone remember her from band?"

Our 15th reunion is this saturday, and the past few months have been AWESOME in the FB group!
-We need your addresses because we want to send out CLASSY invites! -We've received some feedback that $50pp is too expensive. We need to be able to cover the (rural ohio) venue and pay for the decorations, invites, and postage! -There are a lot of people in this FB group, yet few RSVPS. DON'T YOU CARE TO SEE YOUR OLD CLASSMATES IN PERSON?!?! -It's official, the reunion is cancelled due to lack of interest.
Then the fun starts with a post from someone not on the planning committee: -even though it's all cancelled, if you are in town, head up to the *local bar* on saturday night. Love to see you
That got liked by 50+ people and the reunion committee chair flipped out: -WE'd only planned 1 drink ticket per person for a reason. Most of us are adults with children. It's time to be over the bar life! I can see most of you aren't, SO MAYBE WE'LL BE MATURE ENOUGH TO HAVE A PROPER REUNION WHEN WE HIT 20 YEARS

I had to google daggering.
Interesting. I also had to look up daggering.
I didn't know I was "hating" by missing my high school reunions. I wonder if people actually think that those who don't go to the reunion are actively making a stand. I can't help it that I had better things to do ;P

H's class of 93 20th reunion Facebook group was endless laughs. It was a family picnic and then a bar event. No one wanted to commit except the people who wanted to set up MLM tables at the park, it seemed.

I'd go just to watch the drama. I guess there was a little drama at my 10 year last year but NOBODY WILL TALK ABOUT IT. And it's so annoying. I wish I would've gone just to see it happen.
Update: ONE drink ticket per person. There are quite literally plans circulating to bring flasks. Someone is in a huff about a joke response to spike the soda because "some of us want to act like ADULTS."
And you all wonder why I'm not going back. Apparently it's teetotalers, dictators, and a couple rebels.

This happened in the class before mine.
Only 2-3 people decided on the date, which was first week in October to line up with homecoming. Cue parents (legitimately) freaking out because their kids would be in school and they didn't want to take them out for a reunion they couldn't attend anyway. So committee added a family night at the football game Friday and fancy dinner dance that was $50pp on Saturday. Again, cue freak out over expenses and someone saying "let's do a bonfire and drink beer by the river guys!" and a committee member throwing out the "grow up!we're adults!" line.
The whole thing got canceled. Not sure if anyone hung out. lol.
I'm 1 of 5 on our 20yr reunion planning committee. Of course I think it's going to rock because we avoided using a reunion company and have full control of our funds. We are having it at a club with DJ & photo booth. We're doing raffles and people will win prizes just for showing up, not because they were married the longest or traveled the furthest. No cheesy games. Food is sushi, sliders and a mashed potato martini bar. (Not to mention a ton of other apps.) Coffee station with giant dessert display and best of all? Hosted cocktail hour for 2 hours and a 90's cover band is coming.
We are selling a shitload of tickets because we are making every dollar count and people are stoked with what we are doing. The only drama I'm hearing about are from the alumni that still having issues getting over bullying from the past so it's been a game of "is so and so coming because if they are I'm not!"
