muppetinma I asked my nanny yesterday to try and clean up after Ruby (she's a WMD) and she said "oh, okay, I'll just keep her outside the whole time instead." WUT? Okayyyy.
Whatever it takes! But when my child has been asleep for hours, I shouldn't have to step over a puzzle in the middle of the floor. I mean, she had to walk around it any time she went to the kitchen or bathroom. It was clearly IN THE WAY and she did nothing. The puzzle rack was less than two feet away.
I bitched about her here and a couple other places and was met with a pretty resounding "Yeah, that's normal." It shouldn't be normal!! I'm not asking anybody to vacuum, sweep, or dust. I'm asking that if you read a book, put it back on the shelf when you're done! I mean, I expect no less from my THREE YEAR OLD. Surely a 16 year old should be able to manage.
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect her to put away the things they took out. I never even had to ask my babysitter to do it, so I didn't realize anyone thought it was normal for a babysitter--especially one who's had hours to herself--to not pick up after herself.
When H is home he either enables stalling behaviors and just generally interrupts the process, or he's playing obnoxious video games and yelling at the tv which irritates me beyond what is rational.
I much prefer the quiet routine Logan and I have alone, even if there is whining and crying to deal with.
Same here! I have a nice routine and they get to bed on time when it's just me. H will come home like 5 minutes before I put them in bed and then the stalling and the whining start. I've told him to stay gone longer so I can get them to bed.
My husband has no sense of time. The other night, I was just about to start the bedtime routine and he came home. He then went outside so of course the kids went with him. 7:30 he comes inside and I'm like, you need to bring them in so we can start getting them ready for bed. He's like, "it's that late already?" And then goes back outside. After 30 minutes of waiting, I hope in the shower. About 30 seconds later, he comes inside and I hear him start having the kids clean up the playroom at 8pm! I got out of the shower and he hadn't even thought about getting them in their pjs! They didn't get to bed until after 9 that night! Sorry for the long vent in the UO!
I don't have anything juicy, but I did have an apparent UO this week - I believe that the MINIMUM a babysitter should do, as far as non-child responsibilities go, is leave the house in the condition it was when they arrived. Nine times out of ten, we're staying out way past bedtime, so they have tons of time to tidy up.
I mean, come on. I have ONE kid, and he's really easy. He'll clean up his toys and dishes himself if you ask him to. When my son is sleeping for 75% of the time I'm paying you for, pick up the damn puzzle and put it back where you found it.
What are your thoughts on dishes? I feel weird when babysitters do the dishes.

My husband cannot even manage to put stuff away unless told.
This. My house was so clean for the 3 weeks that my H was away on business travel.
But I would expect a babysitter to leave my house in the condition that it was when I left. That's what I always did when I babysat.

Put them in the sink. Whenever we have a sitter, I usually order pizza for them, so dishes are minimal. If they want to put them in the dishwasher, fine, but it's not expected.

I was a croc hater until I had a child. Easiest slip on/off and clean up shoes ever! My friend bought her Frozen ones when we were at Epcot, she loves those damn things.
I have grown to strongly dislike french manicures. Idk why I just do I alway think "gosh a color would have been so much cuter" I think the only time they should be worn is for your wedding.
im not a French manicure lover either crocs on kids are cute I don't like character stuff but my kid wears McQueen undies so I am a hypocrite on that one
I'm ok with French manicures ( but not on toes!! Shudder ), but I really don't like long nails - real or fake. I think they look dated and weird. Short nails are where it's at.
I'm not a croc fan but I have no choice in the matter - DH is so vehemently against them that I wouldn't be allowed to bring then in the house. He also has an irrational hatred of Capri pants lol.
I don't hate crocs, but I don't think they are all that great for your feet. I guess because I have so many back issues, and knee problems run in the family, I think shoes need to have support. Though I wear croc flip flops at.the.beach. But no where else.

I hate French tips on toes. I think it's so creepy looking. If you have visible white on your toenails, it's time to clip.

I really am not a fan of character stuff on shirts, but my kid got every character undie he wanted just so I could get him potty trained.

I have been having so much pain when I walk (SPD related) and my feet/ankles are swelling a lot. I went to the dr this morning and mentioned all of that and he said that I need to be wearing better (read: uglier) footwear and suggested crocs. I am planning to go to the crocs store today on lunch but I dont know if I can actually pull the trigger.
It's kind of weird that the same day I got this suggestion is the same day it comes up in the UO!
