Brought to you by me getting my latest doctor bill yesterday from the delivery. $4600 for the doc and I still haven't gotten the hospital bill yet, but in the past, they've been about $4000. At least I don't have to pay an anesthesiologist this time? Looking on the bright side?
So, yeah, each of my deliveries has been about $8000.
I still don't understand how DH works for such a big company and his healthcare coverage is so lackluster, but at least it's something. : /
Both kids were easily under $1000 for the OB-MW, hospital, pedi, anesthesiologist, and various other providers like hearing check, labs, etc. Really good health insurance is one of the few remaining perks of being a federal employee.
Ha, don't worry, there are some lucky ducks here in the US whose insurance covers so much it's like the same as buying a Snickers bar or something. I am not one of them. Womp, womp.
I only had a $500 copay for the hospital stay with my DD. My current plan is really awesome, but they're getting rid of it next year because the university decided it costs too much.
I've seriously considered trying to have another kid before the plan goes away, because I'm sure it would cost several thousand with a different plan.
Well, once we got pregnant, everything was completely covered, so $0. But to get pregnant in the first place, it was somewhere around $25 to $30,000 :/
$250 hospital co-pay for #1 with what most consider shitty insurance. Around $5,000 with #2 not including lab bills, with what everyone told me was great insurance.
I opted to go back to the shitty insurance at open enrollment.
We don't have kids yet, but we've been talking more seriously recently, so I looked into it. If I'm reading it correctly, it looks like there will be a $25 co-pay for the first visit. Everything after that is covered 100%, after the $1000 deductible. So $1025?
ETA: Honestly, the deductible confuses me. It also says, " Annual Deductible will not apply for a newborn child whose length of stay in the Hospital is the same as the mother's length of stay." Idk. My insurance is free, so I can't really complain.

$25 first visit copay. A couple hundred in lab fees. 3 - $500 deductibles, because he was, of course, born the day after my insurance policy year ended/began. So two deductibles for me and one for him being on my insurance for his first month of life.
$25 copay at my first OB visit. That was the only bill I paid for the pregnancy, labor, and delivery.
God, that was good insurance.
I think mine was a $50 copay for my first visit and that was it. State insurance - it's awesome!
DH worked for a union until a few weeks ago. Their medical insurance coverage was the best I've ever encountered. I think the premium was 100% covered by the company for all of us, too.
2650 for prenatal care, 1100 for anesthesia, I forget the hospital charges. It was much, much more for my c-section. I think for the bookends it was $3k - $4k total.
It was around $5k. I have a high deductible plan that sucks.
That also doesn't include the $900 private room supplement I had to pay since I wanted DH to be able to stay at the hospital and I didn't want to deal with a stranger and their baby postpartum. I am still pissed about that, I delivered at a fancy shmancy hospital that keeps two shared rooms (out of maybe 40 rooms) so that your insurance won't cover a private room.
$0; no copay since I delivered at the hospital associated with my place of employment. If I had delivered at another hospital, the copay would have been $100.
$2000 for DD1 and $2500 for DD2, not counting all the extra visits and copays, which met my $1300 OOP max. But then we moved and had to start over with new insurance.

$350.
We just had to pay out the rest of the deductible and at that time it was just $1K. I miss BCBS We're w Harvard Pilgrim now and I have no idea how it would work. I obviously don't need it lol.
