I do a cheesy pasta that calls for basil. It's pasta, chicken, and a sauce made with cream of chicken soup, diced tomatoes, basil, garlic and oregano. Add LOTS of shredded cheese.
Something you could do that I do, is cut the basil up and place in an ice cube tray. Drizzle olive oil over the basil. Freeze for 1-2 days. Pop out the cubs and place in a freeze ziplock bag. Place back in freezer.
When you need to add a splash of olive oil to a pan before cooking chicken or something add the "ice cube" instead.
I do it with all extra spices that will go bad before using.

I was reading this thinking "good idea!" and them remembered I don't have ice cube trays. I should pick up a few next time I'm somewhere where they are cheap.
Go to the store and buy this packet in the seasoning aisle.
Buy some cherry or grape tomatoes, boneless chicken, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, pasta and fresh Parmessan cheese. If you have any of that on hand....fantastic! I can't recommend this meal enough, it's delicious. My picky three year old randmonly loves this meal. We add fresh basil on top and also add it in while while cooking the sauce.
We double up on the batch and freeze the sauce into small servings. So on nights when no one feels like cooking, just defrost a sauce and boil some noodles.
I am saving that recipe Alyssa. I wonder if I can find a similar sauce at a store here.
It's really good. In my house we love balsamic so we go a little heavy on it. I have never seen a sauce for it in a store but I do know that if you do a search online there are a lot of recipes that make it from scratch. I have only tried it with the seasoning packet.
