So I emailed my manager and director this afternoon after boiler717 asked about any updates because WTF I talked to them TWO weeks ago with my compromised offer of a max two weeks unpaid (totaling 14 weeks).
So my manager pulls me into a room and says that I can take my 12 weeks, return (would be the week of Christmas), but then take the week of NYE off with PTO or unpaid (my choice). The reasoning is that people will be in the week before xmas but NOT the week of NYE. I took it and got in writing that I "get 12 weeks for FMLA plus the week of NYE". Joke's on them if I am late cause then I will be out the whole time anyways
So basically I got 1 of the 2 weeks I wanted. I am still annoyed but I am happy I stuck up for myself and at least got one additional week.
I am also 100% approved to become a remote employee on April 1, so 3 months after I return. Woo. That I am pumped about.

My mat leave negotiations have gone to shit. Oh well. I now feel not bad at all about saying that I won't be back until after Labour Day next year (I know - I'm Canadian), and I very well may take my full year off to find a job in government. I'm sick of living in a government town but working for a private company (while all of our contracts are with the government), thereby getting stiffed on benefits.
