For years I've toyed with the idea of requesting a telework arrangement and I just never did it. I decided it was time, so now I will WAH once a week. Woo!
Also, I am taking a half day. The plan is to go home and go back to sleep. I am an exciting individual.

I a listening to an audiobook and the combination of the woman reading it and the fact that the main character is named Dabney (which my brain auto correcting it to Daphne) is annoying. But I can't quit now.
I think of tacosforlife every time I debate using aggravating v. irritating v. Annoying. I hope I used the correct one.

Wow. You are reaching way back for that one. I forgot that I ever ranted on that. (To be fair, what have I NOT ranted on?)

Care to rehash the rant? I'd be curious to hear it.

I would like to hear it too (well, not the rant, really -- just the proper usage of each).
I wonder if it will go in the realm of
"that joke was hysterical" <-- nails on chalkboard "I am so nauseous" <-- I know it is wrong, but "nauseated" sounds so douchey that being wrong is fine with me
So H applied for a job in our home state at the end of June. He felt super confident about it and I was just glad he applied. He packed his interview suit both times we came out to the lake, since it would be easy for him to pop down there for an interview.
Except he hasn't been called. Nothing. He hasn't been told they've hired someone else, either, but ugh. And now every time we see a member of my extended family they ask (lesson: my mom has a big mouth). It's getting painful.
In a fit of insomnia this morning, I went online and read the LinkedIn profiles of the people who got the jobs he applied for last summer. Shiiiiit. They have very diverse resumes compared to his.
I feel like we're never going to "move home" and H isn't going to achieve his career ambitions.

Annoy: to bother Aggravate: to make worse Irritate: to cause physical pain (like cause a rash)
Inexact definitions. I'm too old and tired to give a shit anymore. But that was from journalism 101.
That all makes sense from a medical POV, as that is how I've heard doctors use those words.
However, I wonder if this is one of those cases where common usage trumps the definition since those words are so widely used now as synonyms to "annoy" and few people know their true definition (myself included until just now). Interesting, thanks!
Working 5am to 1pm today and then doing a bunch of errands and catching up on house stuff. Another 5k tomorrow and then plan to spend the rest of the day by the pool.
It's my Friday off, and I'm sitting in my home office about to call into a meeting where I'm pretty sure I'm going to be yelled at, over the "surprise" of a short turn around time on something, yet I've been telling everyone it's coming for over a year. So long I might have hit the boy who called wolf stage, but I was just relaying what I was being told by the external folks. Happy ducking Friday.
I bombed my interview earlier this week. They just posted a promotion in my group, but I know it's earmarked for someone else. Despite me doing more work and having more management experience.
@idaholakelady - I am sorry to hear that. Does he know anyone that might be able follow up and see where things are in the hiring process? It is the summer and sometimes that slows things down. Years ago I went on an interview - and didn't hear back until October! (I realize this is an exception and not the norm.)
The obituary mentioned that the family would like donations to a local ALS chapter in lieu of flowers, and mentions the hospice that the dad was at when he passed away. I had no idea.
DH and I have decided we will send a small plant for the service, and make a donation to the ALS chapter as well. (another buddy runs a florist shop in the area, so delivery costs will not be nutty for the plant)

I know it's super frustrating, but I also know that interview processes can move super slowly, especially this time of year. I wouldn't automatically assume he's out.
Not the same, but when H was first applying for jobs out of college he sent out a bunch of applications, got a couple of interviews and then a job in a reasonable time (maybe a month; things were moving quickly in his industry at the time). A full 9 months later he got a call back from one of the other organizations saying they had finished evaluating the applications and wanted to interview him.
My Frye boots arrive today. You guys had better be right about how awesome they are.
I got pair on prime day. They are too tight across the ball of my foot. They are still sitting there while I decide if I want to return or have them stretched. :/

I'm so glad it's Friday. DH has had a shitty week and has been super moody. I finally bailed last night and went to happy hour with a coworker. Turns out, her H also is moody, so we had some commiseration.
Its the birthday of one of my employees today. I'm a little BEC with her (which is hard because she works for me) and I have to go pick up some flowers for her. I kinda want to get the cheap ones, but she'll complain about it. Hence why I'm BEC with her.
I just stunk up the entire lunch room. I had microwaved leftover chicken/spinach/feta burgers. It literally smelled like dog poop. Multiple people walked in and commented on how it smelled like dog poop.

I spent the morning writing a letter of recommendation for a friend and proofreading DH's work presentation, both of which are steps in getting this summer behind us.
I just finished wiping out the oven from the self-cleaning cycle yesterday (the house did not, in fact, burn to the ground). The storage drawer below the oven was particularly gross. I'd rather just not have it at all, since I don't use it and it's apparently just a receptacle for gross stuff under the oven.
Next up is a shower and some ironing/laundry and getting ready for this long-awaited celebratory dinner out with DH to commemorate the end of his horrible summer class. I wish we were celebrating many other things in the lives of my family/friends that I'm hoping will come together sooner than later, but I'll take this for now.

I'm actually considering going home early today. I still feel like garbage even after sleeping in and skipping walking Rocko this morning. I've been offered cough drops, repeatedly asked if I'm OK, etc.
Plus there is about a million kinds of wrong and crazy going on in my mentee's life that I can't fix or really disclose, but I'm trying to decide if I report some things to child services, and how I can best help her, etc.
I am so ready for a lazy weekend of rest and recovery after this week.

Now that it's clean, line it with foil. Pull the foil out and toss it before you clean the oven next time. That's what i used to do with that storage drawer
I have a 2nd oven on bottom that I bought on purpose because I wanted 2 ovens, but didn't have the space for it. Mine does this too....but I'm not sure I can line it. Need to find out.
Great idea! Thank you for the tip. When I get a new oven, I'm going to look for one that does not come with this "feature."
