I fed my kids cereal for dinner a shameful number of times this week. I've been too bust between getting ready for a cruise and dealing with an auto accident.

I'm super excited for my kids to go to prek 3 mornings a week but I'm freaking out about next year when it's five days. That's too much and I'll miss them too too much. 3 days is a wonderful break, 5 is too much. I'm pretending it's not really going to happen. Denial is a great coping mechanism eh?

Oh no! I hope everyone's okay! And cereal is totally a fine dinner, especially under the circumstances!

I've done that for less legitimate circumstances. We are all living off quesadillas because I've been too lazy to actually cook and dh hasn't been grilling because his arthritis is really flaring up right now. Hope it wasn't a serious accident and everyone is ok!

UO- I used to be anti leashes on kids but now I see why people might use one. Because all my 2 year old does is run off the second you put him down. And he's fast, guys! DH nicknamed him "the bullet " Fffc- DH is going to his annual work conference. He will be gone all week. My freezer is full of junk/ easy meals because with a 2 and 4 year old, showing my house, and the heat, I thought "screw this!" Also, I might have hidden some of it from DH so he doesn't eat it all before he leaves. But I only got one bottle of wine....I should get more, right?

Is everyone ok??
Oh yes, it was just me in the car and I'm fine. A little bruised and sore, but it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. The car is a total loss though. A guy flew through a stop sign right I front of me. He accepted liability immediately, so that was a relief. This was the first car I didn't lease, but bought instead, in almost 15 years, lol.

I would move if we had to go back to school before Labor Day.
Ok, maybe not, but the idea is SO foreign to me I would hate it.
Lol we have always gone back before Labor Day. It doesn't bother me at all but it's our norm. They still get Labor Day off. It works out well. They kind of ease into school with a three day week, four day week, then five day.

Glad everyone is okay! And I'm sorry about your car. That sucks!!!!
When I was little, we started school on Wednesday before Labor Day and got out at the end of the first week in June. I still think that's the "perfect" schedule. In June, you're chomping at the bit to get outside. By those last few days before Labor Day, there's a bit of a chill in the evening already and you're just feeling sad about the countdown. It was nice to get a few days in, and then have a holiday weekend. And the real prize was getting out early in June!
My kids go back after Labor Day (which is LATE this year), but then they go until the end of the SECOND week in June. Seriously, that's too long into June in Wisconsin when the summer's already too short.
Also, I hate club sports. The whole ultra-competitive, expensive, crazy sports thing that parents somehow got themselves into. I just can't believe I'm going to have to deal with this if my kids are remotely good at any sports. Traveling, high fees, too much specialization, year-round, etc. Plus, it's all the PARENTS can talk about. At our neighborhood picnic they were all talking about the different leagues and tryouts for their 9/10 yeAR OLDS. Takes all the family time. And money! I'm avoiding it as much as I can, but I know that if anyone is really interested in a sport it seems you have to buy in eventually. It used to be you could just play rec dept sports for years, and then if you were good enough you played in high school. Now you can't get on a high school team without years of specialized training and I think it's nuts.
Also, I still hate homework and believe it's mostly detrimental to kids. Except for some special assignments, I truly think it should mostly be avoided.

Ditto this. Kids have orientation on the Wednesday before and have school thurs and Friday. They have the holiday off and then a 4 day week. Then again going to the shore here is driving 7 minutes down the road so it's not a detriment. Lol

Sorry about the car but glad to hear you're fine!!

I'm just hanging out. The girls have friends sleeping over. It's their first friend sleepover and they're having a blast! We were at the beach all day, so Drew went down early and easily and I'm exhausted.
I just ordered 4 Amazon dash buttons according to another message board this makes me lazy. I own it.
You had me at lazy, but I did not know what they were. What if your kid hits the button for laundry detergent 100 x and doesn't tell you...because that is what mine would do!
I suppose an email would alert you to this before it would be too late...or you would be set for life...and the afterlife?
It only registers the first press until it has been delivered. Omg, these are amazing. But where were they before dd was potty trained?!?!

I keep seeng this and it kind of makes me WTF? Yes like roses said it doesn't work that way but even if I did I truly believe everyone on this board is fully capable of keeping something out of their child's reach.
The tech part of it is cool to me but it's nothing we use or use enough of/often enough to warrant it. We have a few things on auto delivery already, so maybe if those things were available?

I need one for fruit & milk.
I love the laundry one, because our laundry is in the basement, and so many times I think, "oh, I need detergent" but I forget by the time I get upstairs. This way I don't have to remember!
