I'm sitting in the driveway after driving around with DS because at 2:00 he still had not napped at all.
Today is day 3 of trying to get him to nap in his crib. He cried for an hour two different times today without falling asleep. I give him pacifier and turn on at least one sound machine when I lay him down. He flips over as soon as I walk out of the room so the pacifier is pointless and I don't want to give him any kind of blanket.
I don't go in after I lay him down because it justs makes him madder. I've tried rocking/nursing him to sleep before laying down and laying down drowsy and turning on the sound machines. None of it works and he ends up crying and turning circles in his crib until I go grt him. I just don't know how long I can keep this up.
I'm so sorry. Non napping babies are so hard. I tried everything but in our case DD didn't discover naps and schedules until she was 12.5 months and it happened on her own. There's hope.
Where was he sleeping before the crib? Was he sleeping well there?
He was napping on me, which he loved. He's 7 months old, so I'm trying to get some of my life back during the day. It's just so hard watching him cry and turn circles in his crib instead of sleeping.
carfar I've tried both. If he's awake he starts crying before I finish laying him down and if he's asleep he wakes up as soon as I lay him down. He is usually asleep when I put him down at night, and it works out okay.
Will he nap in a swing or other device? B napped so well in his swing, but wouldn't nap anywhere else. Slept fine in his crib at night, but naps were a different animal.
I finally did some nap "training" at around 10 months, and since then he's been awesome in his crib - but before that, it was all swing, all the time.
I can't get DS to nap in his crib. I finally figured out he would sleep in his PNP in the living room. He would scream and scream and scream if I tried his crib in the dark nursery. I put him down on his tummy because he's going to end up there anyway and I loosely wrap his lower half in a blanket for naptime since I'm right there watching him.
It took a lot of trial and error. I was amazed at what finally worked. It was a moment of desperation when I decided to set up the PNP and stick him in there. If he wasn't going to nap, he was at least going to have some quiet, alone time!
Huge hugs. Before that, I was napping with him on the couch so I feel your pain.

I don't have any advice because DD still struggles with crib naps (she is 15.5 months). Some days are better than others but most weekends she ends up napping on our bed with one of us next to her. It sucks. She fights and cries through attempts to nap in her crib.
I hope your boy gets a nap soon so you can get a break and he can reset himself!
My DD would NOT nap in her crib under any circumstance until 9 months. And then it was like a flip was switched. She slept in the rnp while at home until 5 months, and then the swing until 9 months. The swing that she hated until the moment she decided she loved it! Weirdo babies!! I hope the swing works out.
DD napped on me until she was 10 or 11 months. One day she started refusing to fall asleep on me and was fine to nap in her crib by herself. I couldn't deal with her not having naps so I just put up with it but it can be hard. I hope you find something that works for you guys!

This, except it happened for DD at 8 months. I'd probably give up for now and try again in a couple weeks.
My daughter is 8 months and still only naps on me. Sometimes I can transition her to the RNP (she's tiny and still fits), sometimes not. I'm hoping she decides she likes her crib someday.
