I'm 6 days postpartum and my feet are crazy swollen. Like worse than any time during my pregnancy. My hands and face are a touch swollen, enough that it makes it uncomfortable to wear my rings and that I notice it in the mirror. I was in labour for 24 hours and pumped full of fluids but after 6 days I would assume it would be gone by now.
My midwife was just here last night for our 5 day home visit and my BP is good so it's not anything bad medical wise.
Did this happen to anyone else? If so how long did it last?
I was pumped full of fluids too and mine lasted a couple of weeks. A few times my feet actually hurt a little. I read that wearing tight clothes like yoga pants don't help, but I don't think It really made a difference for me. It sucked but eventually it went away.
Mine took about 2 weeks to go away completely. I looked like fred flintstone. It was bad. You'll know when it starts to dissipate because you'll pee bucketfulls all day long.

It happened to me too and totally freaked me out. Started in the hospital, so maybe 2 days after delivery, and lasted another few days at home. I slept with my feet elevated and that really helped the swelling go down in a day or two.
Do you have the compression socks? I didn't wear them once I was discarded and swelled bad. Wear them for 24 hours and drink tons of water. It helped me right away.

It happened to me and I had a completely med free, not even an IV, after my first was born. Definitely more swelling than at any point in my pregnancy... I think it took a week or toe to go away completely. The fluid shifts are crazy after birth. Strange tho, none at all after my second!

I freaked out too, especially because one leg was more swollen than the other and I was convinced I had a blood clot. Plus the other people I knew who had babies were immediately swollen after the birth and mine came on days later. But it was all normal and okay!

It happened to me as well, maybe about 4-5 days after giving birth. I lost it all in about two weeks by sweating buckets every night. I had to sleep on a waterproof mattress pad so I didn't ruin my sheets.
Yeah totally normal. I couldn't fit my feet onto shoes when it was time to leave the hospital. January in MN didn't leave flip flops as an option so I left in socks and slippers.
Mine got super swollen two days after I gave birth. It's been five weeks now and they're still not back to normal. They're definitely better, but there is still some swelling. The strange thing is that I'll have good days where they are almost normal, but then a few days later they puff up a little again. The joys of pregnancy and childbirth!
I could have written your post 3 years ago when I had dd. I was far more swollen pp than I ever was pregnant. It was insane and I was convinced that there was something wrong. It was just the fluids from my long labor. It did go away eventually. I remember calling around 10 days pp because I was still concerned but I was back in regular clothes by 2 weeks pp so it must have gotten better by then.

happened to me too. my feet and ankles hurt from it. I actually called my doctor's after hours # because i was concerned. he was like "rest and elevate your feet as much possible." I was like lol, i have a newborn. rest wasn't happening and it was hard to elevate my feet comfortably because of my c-section. my stomach muscles wouldn't allow me to sit back up without difficulty.
Mine took 2-3 weeks to go away. I came home from the hospital heavier than when I went in. Then bam - I dropped like 15 pounds in 2 days. It was crazy. It felt (and looked) like most of that weight was in my feet.
With my pregnancy with DD, I never had any swelling. Then laying in recovery after my C-section, my legs weren't even recognizable. I also had high blood pressure AFTER delivery (like 167/97) and no one gave a rats ass. The swelling took about two weeks to resolve and the bp a bit longer with no one caring. I hate the hospital I delivered at.

Yup - mine tooka few weeks to go down. Putting on compression socks (sexaaaay) first thing in the morning helped immensely - I hadn't even realized how sore the swelling was making me!
I swear to god my legs were the same diameter from my thighs to my ankles. I was on IV fluids for 27 hours, then I had a c section and continued in fluids for at least 12 more hours. I think it took about a week or so for the swelling to go down.
