H is a whiny screaming mess this morning. Also wants nothing but graham crackers and popsicles this week.
H wants to take our two nephews to the go kart track tonight. It's fine but I don't want to go. He's sort of insisting. I just want to put my kids to bed and read a book.
BIL is in town today; he's awesome, so it should be a fun day. Both DH and I wish he lived closer, I've known him 10 years now and it's amazing how much he's grown. He's also a fantastic uncle. Not sure if we will stay in town or go to NYC today. The boys are out at breakfast and I'm hope with DS2 who is napping.
DS2 can not get into sitting and standing, he's super proud of himself and growing way too fast!
DD and I were supposed to be in Chicago this weekend so DH had a whole bachelor weekend planned full of golf but my RE didn't want me to travel so we are all hanging here. I felt bad so told DH not to cancel his plans but now we are trying to figure out how to actually be productive this weekend and let DH golf. Difficult!
We are picking up a piece of furniture we had recovered and I can't wait to see it!
O is headed to my MIL's and H and I are headed to my mom's, to help he with yard work and painting her deck. It needs to get done and she doesn't have anyone else to help, but it makes for a boring weekend.
My husband is on the phone with a friend who has a newborn. He is sharing baby wearing tips, and telling him which carriers work best for newborns. lol.
My mom is visiting and we are headed to buy B her first shoes and go out to lunch later today. B loves her so much she threw herself on the floor sobbing when my mom put her down to use the bathroom. She also refused breakfast and put up a huge stink about her morning nap because she is just too darn excited to play with her Grammy.
Holy crap @little_moxie i would be freaking out. Keep us posted!
We dropped the kids off at a sitter this am for the entire day so we can do kid-free boating. We will have them on the boat the next 2 days but sometimes it's nice just to go without them.
I am immobile in the guest room. H gave dd a cup of chocolate milk, which she promptly spilled all over the nightstand and floor. I just laid here and watched him clean it up

So... Which carriers work best for newborns? I'm not liking my k'tan and the Moby and other wraps seem too complicated.
It was DH's morning to get up, and I slept until 9:53 am! Bliss.
A week from today, I leave for a work conference and it will be my first nights (3) away from the baby. I'm kind of sad about it. He won't forget me, will he?
We leave tonight for the ILs. Just me and the girls, no H. H and DD1 woke up vomiting in the middle of the night. Suspect food poisoning. She hasn't thrown up in quite a while, so I have hope that she will be okay tonight but omg. Why. I'm so tired. I got no sleep, our flight is at 11:15PM, and I'm pretty sure DD1's mattress is ruined. I've scrubbed it and scrubbed it and it still smells god awful. At least it has 10 days to air out?

Bilirubin went up so have to get another test tomorrow. Hopefully it will start to level out or off to light treatment. Plan for today. Nurse-a-palloza. Hopefully we can poo the bilirubin out of here.

My favorite is a ring sling with the baby in an upright position, I have heard it called heart to heart, tummy to tummy, or chest to chest, with legs out.

We took family pictures this morning. It was a 1.5 hr session that we cut short after 1 hr. Hopefully we got at least a couple good ones.
H took DD out for lunch. She needs some 1 on 1 time. I just put DS down for a nap and might lay down myself. I should pick up the house but am feeling mentally drained lately.

Do some sunlight too
He is currently passed out in front of the window. Of course today has to be partly cloudy. But we are trying

I just got a Lillebaby Airflow. I've been wearing DS around the house in it the past couple of days and he seems to like it. He is currently passed out in it while I have two hands free to do stuff!
I know like three people here care about this, but I am so so pumped about how Phish is playing this year. I have been going to shows and following tours from home since 2004 and their current tour is the best I have ever heard them consistently play in that time. I am going to their festival in 3 weeks and I am simultaneously desperate for it to get here now and enjoying the anticipation as they keep dropping amazing performances.
It's the musical equivalent of your football team having a record breaking undefeated season.
If you are into neither jam bands nor sports, then I do not have a good analogy for you, sorry. But I am having a real nice late summer.

We love our ring sling, but it definitely took having someone show me how to use it correctly. You can probably figure it out from YouTube videos, but if you have a local babywearing group, even better.
If you buy a ring sling, I'd suggest a pleated or gathered shoulder over the Maya with the padded shoulder.
I don't know how to fix this cycle with my kids. Dd1 (4.5) has been waking up at 5:30. It's guaranteed to be a terrible day when that happens. She gets so exhausted and her behavior when she's tired is just awful. After lunch today I told her I'd lay down with her so she could take a nap, which worked yesterday, but today led to an enormous tantrum that is so unlike her. She ended up eventually falling asleep for about 5 minutes and then waking up when I tried to leave. She managed to lose all TV privileges today so it's going to Be a long painful day for all of us.
And now Dd2, who was also up at 5:30, is fighting her nap.
I can't figure out how to get them to sleep past 5:30 lately. And I'm scared to death because I'm officially a SAHM now and both girls are out of school/daycare (until September 8 for dd1). And I'm 38.5 weeks pregnant. I need to find a source of endless patience soon or we'll all go crazy.
I showed DD a video of herself laughing and she thought it was hilarious, so I showed her a YouTube compilation of other babies laughing. She was not amused. I guess she only likes her own laugh?
