Unnecessary back story: I returned a very expensive pair of shoes I bought a few years ago at Nordstrom because the heel busted off. They refunded it in full to my store card without blinking. Since they were so nice, I want to reinvest in the store. So selfless
Instead of shoes, I'm thinking a good bag. I was thinking the monster tote but I just don't think I would get as much use out of a big tote. Then I saw this:
I definitely think you'd get more use out of a handbag than shoes. I actually like option 2 better! It will go with most anything, and I like that it has Burberry's pattern without it being too obvious.
“Life is not orderly. No matter how we try to make it so, right in the middle of it lose a leg, fall in love, drop a jar of applesauce.” - Natalie Goldberg
I bought this one several years ago and still love it. Burberry in reds (mine is "garnet black chain satchel") is classic, imo. I wear it with a LOT of stuff, not just "it has to match my shoes" but as the punch of color without being in your face or as a classic accent piece. Black just kind of melts into the background.
The first one you posted has that same feel, only more classic and a bit more muted than the one I bought, so it will be a better purchase long-term since that's what you're looking for. And while I like the bag I'm not a huge fan of the pattern on the second one.
Does everyone hate the color I posted? It looked really pretty in the store, but if I didn't get that, I'd probably get tan. The red is a little bold for my boring self.

I like the color, it looks much prettier in person. For me it would be a fall/winter bag.
Is it considerably more than the shoes or roughly the same?
(I love shoes but would take a pretty bag over any pair of shoes anytime!)
It's almost exactly twice as much. Oops. But I had those shoes for years so I feel like the refund is free money. So I'm pretending this means it's like the bag is 50% off!

Your line of thinking is perfectly logical and reasonable. Get the bag!

Yessss, I love that bag. It'd match the Staub dutch oven I bought today perfectly My splurge was only about 1/8th of the price of that, so I will live through you!

No I love the color. If the straps were slightly longer (I like to carry bags on my shoulder), I'd be tempted to buy it myself.

I don't dislike the color of the bag pictured, I just always go for the neutral especially if you're going to spend that kind of money. Do you have enough neutral bags?
[br I'm mostly too lazy to switch purses. I don't own many because I always end up carrying the same one over and over. I'm bad at handbags.
