I want to find an awesome series or two to watch during the first few postpartum weeks.
On my list:
Friday Night Lights Six Feet Under Breaking Bad Mad Men
Any others I should consider? We already watched Dexter and Homeland (the first two seasons anyway), but are really behind the times with TV. Pretty much we watch MasterChef and Last Comic Standing consistently and that's it.
cville has been singing peaky blinder's praises. we plan to start this week.
Note: I watch it with the subtitles on because it is dark (literally, dark, like ALL OF TELEVISION THESE DAYS) and they have accents and its got complicated nuanced stuff about gang warfare so I need all the help I can get.

i can't see the majority of tv shows anymore. DOES NOBODY HAVE LIGHTING??
Right? We get like 13 hours of daylight in the summer. FILM THEN, ASSHOLES.
ETA: especially galling because I've decided Cillian Murphy IS hot and I want to gaze upon him without squinting.
If you want something light and kind of cheesy, The Witches of East End is entertaining. Not in the same league as the other shows mentioned, but if you are sleep deprived it might be just the thing.
"Why would you ruin perfectly good peanuts by adding candy corn? That's like saying hey, I have these awesome nachos, guess I better add some dryer lint." - Nonny
Start with FNL! I watched it starting my first night home from the hospital. With the wonky hormones there was just enough drama. I didn't want anything too dark.
Damages Parks and Rec (if you haven't seen it before) Chef's Table documentary series Gossip Girl
This needed emphasis.
I'm watching Wentworth now and I like it. 2nd season is very intense. Also, I've watched Luther and it's good. dianecourt if you liked Damages you'll like Bloodline. SO.GOOD. You have to give it a few episodes, but there is this to make it easy:
"Not gonna lie; I kind of keep expecting you to post one day that you threw down on someone who clearly had no idea that today was NOT THEIR DAY." ~dontcallmeshirley

This is rough. I ugly cried through every episode.
Justified seasons 1 and 2. The rest can be watched or not.
The original Twilight Zone. Season 1-3 & 5. Don't bother with 4. They changed formats and it is very weak. Went back to original format for last season.

Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries Grace and Frankie OITNB Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt Poirot Midsomer Murders (this series is literally endless. I think they are in series 24. It is like the British version of Law and Order except there is actually a L-O UK.) Last Tango in Halifax is good just don't spoil yourself on Wikipedia like I did. Same with Happy Valley.

These are great, guys, thanks.
I'm definitely starting with FNL, but am excited to check some of these others out, too.
To the PP who presumed we have seen Orange is the New Black: we actually haven't. When I say we don't watch much TV, I mean it. We tend to abandon a series partway through if it's not holding our interest and we haven't successfully gotten into anything new since K was born. (We still need to watch the last season of Dexter!)
