to help prevent them? I've gone in for my second pedicure in a month, and my heels are still cracking. And it's painful as shit. I know I have terribly dry skin, but this year it's been...something else.

My H just bought me the Dr Scholls Express Pedi Foot Smoother, it's battery operated and has this rolly thing that takes all the cracks and dead skin off. So much stuff comes off I use it outside on my porch and there is no scrubbing, it does all the work. I've had it about two weeks and my mom tried it and bought one too. My feet are so smooth and all the rough skin is totally gone. No cracked heels. It's seriously a game changer.

Baby Foot peels. They are so gross, yet so amazing. I also buy the knock off brand of them from Amazon, and get 3 for $10 instead of $20 each. It's cheaper than a pedicure, and I hate other people touching my feet.

My husband gets really bad cracked heels. Like lotion doesn't touch it. He uses a cream from the podiatrist and special supportive sandals while at home. The sandals help the most with the cracked heels,

Burt's Bees coconut foot creme with socks at bedtime, and pumice in the shower. My heels get so gross and cracked. I want to try baby foot when summer is over

My heels are terrible. I have babyfoot (?) but I don't want to use it during sandal season. Until then, I have to say that a treatment I found on youtube (I know) really worked. Soak your feet in warm milk and scrub with baking soda. Apparently it's the lactic acid that makes the baking soda exfoliate more efficiently. I was surprised at how well it worked. Not perfect, but my feet hadn't looked better in months.
My heels got really bad over the last winter, not cracked but almost there. I did Baby Foot, followed by nightly Vaseline & socks to bed, and now I do a daily foot file in the shower, and 2-3 times a week paraffin dip my feet are so much better now.
Amlactin lotion applied daily before bed. It's a miracle. The cheapest place to buy it is Costco.
I use the Amlactin Foot Cream- it exfoliates to prevent further cracking and moisturizes to help you skin heal. Kersal is really good, too, but it has a greasy texture.
If you aren't getting relief and spend a lot of time in closed shoes/damp socks, your cracked heels could have developed yeast which can be painful. In that case, a couple days of Lotrimin or even Monistat should help.

Vaseline in socks really helps me in winter. I've also been making a paste of olive oil and salt and slathering it all over my feet during my weekly hot bath. I let my feet hang off the tub edge the whole bath. Rinse at the end. It has made a big difference.
Use a foot file on your dry feet. Outside on a porch bc it makes a mess. I had a pedicure guy at a dance spa tell me never pumice your feet wet bc it takes off more and tears the skin, causing more callouses. The cheap places do it and it keeps you coming back, but it's not good for your feet. This was seriously game changing. I got a foot file (big emory board) and started doing that, and man! Haven't had cracked heels in years.
Also, kereasal. It's a valvonline-thick cream, but has lactic acid in it to dissolve the skin. I use it when I haven't been good with the foot file.
I get deep, painful cracks. Amlactin is a miracle. I use the cream specifically for heels on Amazon. It's not terribly expensive (less than $15?)
This is what my dermatologist recommended. I had cracks that were like craters in my feet and AmLactin took care of them. I have to apply it every day though for it to be effective.
Honestly? I've been avoiding wearing sandals most of the summer. I've found that my heels crack, pretty consistently, when I walk around in sandals too much. I've been wearing ballet flats or Toms most days this summer and no painful cracks.
That isn't very helpful if you are concerned with fashion but it's been a worthwhile trade-off for me.
I have a feeling it is for old folks for some reason - it smells a little geriatric. Anyway, one use and it fixes cracked feet. I got the rec on these boards a long time ago.

I use a pumice stone every time I shower, and lotion (sometimes with socks) at night. For me, the key has been consistency. I can't just do those things when my feet are bothering me and then stop when they feel okay. Making those two things part of my daily routine meant slow but steady improvement at first, and feet that are overall in pretty good shape/much better than they used to be.
O'Keefe's Healthy Feet, especially at night with socks
Their Working Hands cream is also great. It's the only brand that has helped my husband's cracking fingers and feet, and he's tried a lot, including most in this thread.
