It's pouring rain still. Flooding all over the place. Particularly worried about H's commute this morning. His office is in an area that had majorly flooded/standing water all weekend. He drives a little roadster convertible, that damn car! We're starting week three of constant rain. Joy.
We're just in the summer of grey and cold, though yesterday and today are warmer (70s) though grey. We're constantly unsure if it's going to rain or not.

I clearly never acclimated to the heat while in DC. It got up over 90 yesterday (first time in over a year here!), and like a dumb dumb, I decided to walk the mile to church and then walk to the grocery store on the way home. It is also important to note that my church is a 150-year-old stone building with no AC, so I never cooled off during the service. The heat zapped me so bad that I had to take a nap and was still pretty useless the rest of the day. I was asleep by 9pm.
I should be getting ready for work, but sometimes you just gotta drink a cup of coffee with your cat and watch the sun shining on the lake.

DD was up at 2:00 and 4:30. Usually when that happens I sleep in and don't go to the gym, but when my alarm went off at 5:00, I figured that i wasn't going to get any more sleep anyway.
I'm glad I went and stayed on schedule, but I might end up asleep under my desk this afternoon.
We had friends over on Saturday, almost entirely so they could drink beer and help us clean out the fridge. Well, between the 6 of us, we got rid of 32 beers. To add some perspective, I had 2 (a peach beer and a hard root beer) and my SIL had 1. I'm pretty sure DH and our one friend were in the double digits.
I went to see Cinderella (Rogers and Hammerstein version) this weekend with my ladies and we wore tiaras the whole time. It was awesome. I am still singing today.

Northern MI had severe storms yesterday, trees down everywhere, power outages, etc. So the Sleeping Bear Dunes national park is closed today due to roads being impassable and unsafe and they posted that info on their FB page, to a chorus of a few idiots whining about how they were supposed to go there today and now what should they do. Perspective, people!
I'm having an argument on FB about why testing the poors for drugs is not a good use of State funding. And the people, who I know are well educated (as I went to school with them) are just not getting it. They think finding a few people who are smoking pot is worth it. Idiots. Idiots who used to do a lot of drugs too...but whatever.
Because why not? I had an uncharacteristically bad Saturday, yesterday was better, and today is going to be awesome. I shall make it so.

Since you're in a good mood, can you go pose as me for an eye exam?
Believe it or not, my default position IRL is a good mood. I tend to stick with rants and grumpiness here only because there is usually far less entertainment value in optimism and happiness. That's not to say that my irritations aren't genuine, just that I tend to get over them pretty quickly.
I've been up since 3:30 this morning. To fly. With kids. Did I mention I hate flying? Especially takeoff and landing, which I have to do twice today, and twice on the way home? And then drive 2 hours to our destination? That's a Monday.
Tomorrow the wife and I celebrate 8 years of marriage. She made dinner reservations for 6:30pm. I don't get home with the kids until 6pm. Has she not been paying attention the last 5 years of our marriage?
I'm trying to book a vacation rental for our trip in February and the one we really wanted was booked. Why can't people keep their calendars up to date? There's another one that looks good but it only has one review and that makes me nervous.
This is clearly a FWP but I'd much rather look at listings than work on a Monday.
I should be getting ready for work, but sometimes you just gotta drink a cup of coffee with your cat dog and watch the sun shining on the lake hang out online with your friends.
And this is me (no lake within view range, unfortunately).
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

This is how I felt on my last trip. I was like 27 hours and three planes?? WTF??? You can do it!!
